hey guys no update on this latly its packed up in the back of my work shop

till i move to the new shop

basicaily it all got too much for me and the work to go on it the rate i was moving was going to be anouther year (body work brake lines and all that because i didn't know any better back then)

and also i haven't had a mini truck on the road in other a year so i feel like a looser lol

when i get back to it at the end of the mouth

i just order re-5s and re-7s and some adjustable bushes for a custom a arm

and i will make upper arms when i get my tube bender

same thing with the rear a lot of tube work

i have built one truck sence i stop working on this for a mate

and im working on getting my navara back on the road

not pictures of the datsun but update none the less

P7170005.jpg

P7170025.jpg

P7180031.jpg

P5171578.jpg

when i got it

P7151692.jpg

P7151691.jpg

much faster work then the datsun

but all the more expersce to use on the datsun

P7151695.jpg

P2140622.jpg

will be lengthen narrowing the frame and all that

shock grauds and a oldschool single cab on the back

lots of mods anyway will have the datsun frome in paint soon and upper bags and rails done

but i don't own a tube bender yet

so bear with me this thing won't die just need to get to the new shop which is 12 mins drvie from my house

hey guys came arcoss some problems (roof chop)

laws in nsw where i live you have to have head room fromt the head liner

is 5 inch foward from where your ass is and 2inchs up

is the center point

from there you need 835 mm 34 inchs ruff

so i need a really low seat and extremaily custom floor pan

i wanted to roof chop this 6 inchs so that i would have a smaller back window and a low roof line or overall body drop and roof chop

because where im from the hight is not measure from the door its measure from the roof like limbo

also looking for a v6 or v8 that fits in with out tonching the frame

The build looks good.

A couple comments:

There's nothing wrong with parralel 4-links. Street rodders have been using them for years and there is NO problem with handling. The only thing is the IC = infinity, so getting traction under hard accel can be an issue, but most bagged trucks, aren't being used for drag racing. ;) Chris Alston Chassisworks sells parallel 4-link kits, as do other companies.

When installing a non-paralel 4-link, I would add adjustable attachment points. If the IC is wrong you can actually end up with less potential traction than using parralel, or even leaf springs.

If I were to do a stock floor body drop, which is the only bdoy drop I would do, I would likely go to using round turb for the section under the cab. Stacking Tube can provide a very strong frame rail. Also running a hoop towards the trans tunnel, then adding a raised "back-bone" through the trans tunnel to add a little more strength can work well. Not an easy thing to do, but has been done and works fine. The other thing to do is solid mount the cab to the frame, add some bracing to the cab, as this will also act as a stiffening member of the entire chassis, allowing a shorter frame rail, to lay rocker, but not have to worry about chassis flex.

Any new updates?

Link to comment

yeah i guess i could put a update on

kool man i accauly can't do most of that where im from

like mount the cab to the chassis

and cutting the chassis down

and thing to do with leafs and 4links

very tuff engineer he wouldn't go for any of that trust me i wanted to cut the rails down

update side i now have sr20de half cut (200sx s14)

so planing on having rack and pinion steering

and a new engine

sence last time i have re mounted my brake booster

cab

front end

started doing wheel tubs

tacked the whole body drop up

only tacked because of the old engine has had it

and not sure how much room the new one will take up

rear bag mounts

Hey Nosh, glad to see some more progress finally. Just curious, in the close up of your brake booster, is that taken with the pinch on the ground? And what size wheels and tires are you running? Just trying to get an idea of wheel clearance available, since you brought it up in my project.

Thanks bud. Lookin forward to seein some more from ya.

Link to comment

yeah man just be carefull is all im saying

mine has 16s on it with hight profile

can fit 17s by 7inch wide which is a very small wheel

thats with low profile tires i can't tell you what size in inchs but 604mm over all diameter

the brake boaster is most up 70mm back 100mm and to the rigth 20 mms

be differnt for you anyway being that yours is on the other side of the truck

there is 20mms wheel clearance in the wheel tubs

and the pitch is 45mm below the ground

that almost 2 inchs

just haven't cut it off yet

i have a lot of work ahead of me

and just lost my full time job so i can be full time working on my truck

Link to comment

thanks man

not really concerned with the booster itself, was just referencing the picture.

your pinch is below the ground? you dropping to the doors?

I'm Canadian, I speak metric too :P 605mm would be just over 2 feet or 24 inches, and a 225/30R20 is about 25.5 inches tall, if you're dropped 45mm (~2inches) and have 20mm (~1inch) to the wheel tubs, I think I can stuff 20's in there after all, just gonna have to bust out the sawzall, welder and 16ga steel and throw my reservations out the window.

thanks for the help dude. sorry to hear bout the job, but at least you got the datto to keep you busy. Git 'er Done!

hey guys been working on this a lot latly was trying to get it ready to go to a show even had a old school mate help me out

i wasn't happy with the old 4 link or the old notch they wouldn't have left me much room to mount any thing under the tub or any room in the tub

and i like the look of the super shortys so thats what im making it now

P3281383.jpg

P3281384.jpg

this is how it was before as you can see in the rest of the build

and the changes i have made as follows shorted 4link by 100mms

made new 4 link cross members with tube bender

and moved the notch towards the cab 320 mm (about a foot)

got the air bags in the front there re 5s

made some 5mm plates to hold the blots in place while tighting them up

P4051421.jpg

P4051422.jpg

P4051423.jpg

so i finally cut the sills off and put some 40mm rhs in there

P4071443.jpg

P4071444.jpg

P4071446.jpg

P4071447.jpg

to bend this i used two tables and a big 2 inch by 2inch rhs and a degress bevel clamp down on a bench and pushed the sheet metal till it hit the degress that i wanted
