pidge
Had one back in the day. A 5hp with built in tank. Great for those back lakes on a smaller boat. Thing was light enough to manage by myself. -Pidge 1 Quote Link to comment
john510
It's a Tohatsu with a Nissan badge on it. 2 Quote Link to comment
pidge
Somewhere in my memory bank I believe Tohatsu built the mercury’s up to 9.9hp past and or present. 1 Quote Link to comment

bottomwatcher
Lots of badge swapping in the small outboard world. I have a 2002 tohatsu 8hp and run the piss out of it on an inflatable dingy. It's been good. The only wildcard is jap outboards are hit and miss with corrosion issues in saltwater. Sometimes they run great until the the block corrodes between cylinders and then there is no saving it. I have a 3.3 jap mercury that has massive hours on it and it even fell off the transom of my floating dock running. I fished it out of the canal, flushed it and put in fresh fuel. Runs like a top several years later. Japanese make excellent outboards. 1 Quote Link to comment
angliagt
A friend of mine had a Tohatsu 50 motorcycle - sort of like a Honda 90. 1 Quote Link to comment
john510
I've read that Tohatsu is the largest outboard manufacturer in the world. Quote Link to comment
