I finally met a major milestone in the H233 narrowing project. As far as I know, this is the worlds first narrowed H233B LSD differential. The amount of work and money required to execute this project has been ridiculous. After Moser ruined my 29 spline pathfinder axles, I pulled a 31 spline Xterra axle from the yard as a replacement. Dutchman did the axle splines and I did the housing. The Xterra unit was narrowed by almost 10 inches to suit my 620. I combined the best parts (frictions) from pathfinder and Xterra units for the LSD clutch pack. The 29 and 31 spline side gears interchange, and everything else in the 3rd member is identical.

Mike, I will be running Z32 rear calipers on this axle and Z32 front calipers in the front. I will proportion the rear to prevent lock up and provide the proper bias. This isn't a stock 620, "extra" braking is definitely needed. The images of the rear setup Matt shared will be slightly different. When I changed from the pathfinder to the Xterra axle, the axle bearings also changed from a single tapered roller to a double, making the housing deeper. So I will have an offset of the brake bracket instead of a flat bracket. Caliper and rotor remains the same. Note: I retained the factory sway bar mounts on the H233B housing, should come in handy for a rear sway bar for the 620.

Packing clutch with optimum order of plates and utilizing thickest plates.

And some images of the damage done by Moser Engineering. I explained to them the scope of work in great detail, and I left a copy of the FSM for both the axle and differential at the shop. Lesson learned. Dutchman is the way to go for splining existing axles.

Narrowing another H233B for a KA24DE swapped 720. Pulled a 3.7 gearset from the yard. I definitely prefer the Xterra units due to the dual tapered roller bearing design ( no shimming) and larger axles, but the D21 and WD21 units are more common in our yards.  Only $150 invested up to this point. We may run a caliper with internal parking brake on this one.

Its amazing how it's cheaper to order OEM Pinion bearings from Japan through Amayama than it is to buy the same thing here in the USA. Nothing but greed to blame. 327% more expensive to line an Americans pocket. I love Japan.
