'83 and up were Z20 and Z24. The Z20 was the mileage option engine. Quote Link to comment

I have the advantage of full timing control which keeps me from having to buy premium . It also allows for better performance overall. I really don’t even know what full timing is stock. It is a poor combustion design which makes things tougher to tune . I might try premium to see how far I can push timing . I’m about 37 degrees now at 100kpa . Run more like 45 below 70 kpa . These motors load really fast without much of a load which probably causes much of pinging 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Can you find it? I don't remember why I would say that. This one?... Your '79 with a blown HG and talk of a KA swap. Well for $30 if just a HG, fix it and have a running engine. Drive the truck and sort it out before the swap. (there's a chance you might even change your mind on the swap) Swapping a KA in is a lot of work to find that it needs major suspension, electrical steering or brakes and who knows what else. Once swapped you have a running L20B rather than 280 pounds of scrap... it's worth more. Quote Link to comment

IZRL
Thomas, those BFGoodrich All Terains are 235/75/15s? Crazy, they actually look like 30's to me. I was contemplating getting 30's but these actually look beefier than I expected. Are those wheels 15X7s, do you happen to know what offset they are, and do they rub? If so where on the truck do the tires rub? I have the stocky wheels on my truck currently but the front wheels sit considerably further in the wheel well than my rear wheels. Not sure if this is normal. I really like the way the stock wheels look but I'm guessing I would need to add a spacer to the fronts to get them to sit closer to how the rears sit. I wouldn't think twice about running the stock wheels if they weren't so skinny, so I'm still on the fence on that one. Quote Link to comment
