Update again! Going to look at a 89 Accord in Camas tomorrow.

Well, it should have had its second timing belt done at around 180k. Not a lot else I can think of than perhaps the usual rust. I'm not sure if that gen had the same issues as the next couple gens with the EGR system. Easy fix, but if the engine stumbles around 2k rpm it's probably that.

Hey i dont care what they say vw makes a great car if its the 1.8t even better just make shur its up on the timing chain or you will have problems sounds like a great deal ive had many with few issues

Since a bunch of you guys are VW guys too it seems like, how hard is it to change a window regulator (rear and sunroof)? Yes, I'm back on to a Jetta, 96 GLX VR6.

I like vw's... But wouldn't own another one. A daily driver doesn't have to be cool... Just reliable.

Asked them, if they serviced the tranny. My mom's 88 accord went out because of tranny.

Update again, calling on a 96 Jetta and 90 Accord. Both 5 speeds, Jetta has 133K, Accord has 180K. Hope to be closing this thread up soon, but there's still that sliver of doubt. Hope something works out.
