allen dodson
Any body ever had this problem? The carpet is wet but only under neath the floor mats. The floor boards are 100 % rust free or at least they were. Its got all new door and window seals. Could it just be that the pickup never gets warm enough to dry the moisture under the floor mats? Skib
Id check all your seals, the ones in the firewall especially. Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
We've got a similar prob....seems to be coming from around the wiper shaft. It might be from the fresh air intake. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
There is a drain on each side of the plenunm where the wiper linkages are. They always plug up with leaves an dirt. Water backs up. The drains should dump water down in front of the door hinges behind the fender. Quote Link to comment
420n620
on my 620 I found where water enters (small droplets) on the firewall through the hood cable, steering column and gas cable. I just rotated the rubber boots and no more problems. Quote Link to comment
datsunfish
My wet carpet is usually from the window gasket. Curled up a little on the corner. Drains down the firewall. Quote Link to comment
Cuts metal like mad
my 620 was picking up water from the rust holes in the floor. Quote Link to comment
fiveNdime
I assume you have checked the heater core? Is there water on both sides? Quote Link to comment
72240z
Ya as the responses say it's really a host of things you just have to check off the list. I'm going to add the rubber drain plugs, as with the firewall ones sometimes they should be rotated. I add rtv to all of them, as in every rubber seal, if you want you can still take them off but in the mean time you know they are sealed properly. Quote Link to comment
allen dodson
Yeah its wet on both sides under the floor mat only. There doesnt seem to be a little wet are that leads to the floor mats, You know what i mean? I mean if it was wet a little up by like the heater core you would be able to say the heater core is leaking and running down towards the floor pans but nothing. I washed out the cowl vent area with a hose to make sure it was clean with no leaves or anything in it. Mike said that the cowl vent drains down on both sides of the fenders just in front of the doors but the only drain i see is a small drain that comes out on the fire wall and its directley behind the motor. fiveNdime
May I suggest you take out your carpet so you have bare floors and see if you can find where its leaking by sitting inside while someone holds a hose over all the possible spots for the water to come in. You can then see where the water is coming in Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
i was thinking the heater core too, but you would most likely smell the antifreeze...... Quote Link to comment
Eastcoast521
Mine leaks from the top corner of the window gasket, which is hard as a rock, cracked and leaking. I've got a gasket that came with the truck I need to have put on soon. Quote Link to comment
