datzenmike
Anyone following your project thread .... will not know about questions asked and answered here. Someone in the future will read it and wonder how you solved most of your problems. Front glass was probably not shortened but the A pillars just tilted back and the roof length (front to back) shortened. If this is so just get another stock front windshield. There have been good results cutting laminate glass with a water jet. Side windows and rear are tempered glass and impossible to cut after they are tempered. Tempered glass is designed to 'explode' into tiny nuggets if broken in any way. If needing glass place an ad here... https://ratsun.net/classifieds/category/9-datsun-parts/ 1 Quote Link to comment
LilDotty74
Thanks and I figured I’m kinda ass out with the side glass, I was thinking possibly cutting acrylic or plexiglass for the side I’ll measure to see if the glass is stock size let’s hope for that Quote Link to comment
Jersey
For the side windows you weld in filler panels at the front window frame to close the gap. This is how it was done on Abacab. They also were able to lay the A pillars back, by doing it this way they were able to use the stock size windshield. 1 Quote Link to comment
LilDotty74
okay I see that’s actually a good idea thanks Quote Link to comment
LilDotty74
I think I’m going to look for a smaller window than stock otherwise the filler panels would be about 3 1/2 inches wide and completely change the look of the truck Quote Link to comment
Jersey
It does give it a different look. I think it looks good and allows for a convenient solution for the side glass. However, it does change the look from what a “normal” Datsun looks like. Then again, so does the chop top... 1 1 Quote Link to comment
LilDotty74
Actually doesn’t look too bad and that looks about the same if not shorter than mine Quote Link to comment
Chopper Jim
We have done a few chops and had custom windows made. I'm looking for the name of the people that did it for us. We had tinted door & quarter glass for a 1957 Bel Air done at a local glass shop. Will let you know when i find it. Chopper Jim 1 1 Quote Link to comment
LilDotty74
Much appreciated! After calling about 20 glass shops and then all saying no I started calling custom shops that do chops and I got ahold of a local guy that said he could do it it just hoping it don’t cost me too much... but it will 2 Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
If you have flat, not curved, side glass then use laminated safety glass. It comes in flat sheets and can be cut and sides finished to eliminate splinters. Glass replacement shops used to do this cut and grind as a routine service. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Jersey
The 72.5 was introduced with them. They afforded for more shoulder room for the occupants. 1 Quote Link to comment
INDY510
You should measure the width of your windshield, because it looks like your roof was widened during the chop and the stock 620 glass might be too narrow now. 1 Quote Link to comment
