ErickwithnoK
I need help identifying these calipers. They are fronts on my 1972 510 with an unkown past. They have been sitting for a long time and also don't even seem to fit. The hub rubs the caliper...whoever had this car did some interesting things. Anyone recognize that logo "S"? They are dual piston calipers. http:// Edited June 22, 2019 by ErickwithnoK Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Can you take a picture looking down on them? Showing the tops of the pads? Quote Link to comment
ErickwithnoK
I can but it will be awhile, the car doesn't live where I do...will update with another picture when I can. Probably tomorrow. Thanks Mike. Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Logo looks like Sparco, but didn't know they ever made brakes...? 1 Quote Link to comment
ErickwithnoK
I also thought it looked like the sparco S but...Does sparco make brake calipers? I havent been able to find any. More pics soon. Quote Link to comment
ErickwithnoK
They're so crusty 😱 http:// Edited June 22, 2019 by ErickwithnoK Quote Link to comment

ErickwithnoK
Seems overkill. It has two lines going into it so it's at least 2 piston. I still haven't found sparco brake calipers anywhere Quote Link to comment
docbainey
SANYCO? Maybe Sumitomo? Sparco is an Italian company started in the late 70s that basically produces safety EQ, not brake systems'. If, big if, if they did produce these, Japanese car instead of Italian? I'm sure they have burned any trace. Jezuz, was that thing rolling around in mud with no wheels?!?!! Edited June 28, 2019 by docbainey Quote Link to comment
scooter
If they have two holes going into them they are volvo girling calipers i believe 1 Quote Link to comment
rosso
I think scooter is right - Girling, well known manufacturer back in the day and the logo fits too. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Girling 4 piston calipers from a Volvo. Very similar to the Toyota 4x4 4 pots in the early 80s trucks. This is the later caliper which is the same only wider for the vented rotor. Quote Link to comment
scooter
Old school upgrade for 510’s i think they were taken off 240 volvos. They are odd cause of the double inlet thingy though. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The Toyota 4 pots are connected internally. I had an SAS on my 620 and once I got an adjustable proportioning valve properly set the brakes were very good, even with the stock '78 master. Quote Link to comment
