Roadster-ka
Check oil pressure with manual, known good gauge. Pull valve cover,, check rockers, adjust as needed. If noise persists, you can pull plug wires one at a time to isolate which piston/rod is the culprit. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
A/ If the sound is a higher pitch, like hammer on an engine block that remains the same loudness while increasing with engine speed, it's likely a valve clearance too wide. B/ If the sound is more like a sledge hammer hitting an engine block and much louder when you step on the gas and quieter as you let off, it's a rod bearing. If B, stop running it immediately. If you put a fram filter on... throw it away and get a NAPA Gold. Half fill it with oil and screw it on. Check the dipstick is reading full. Is the oil pan drain bolt on? What plugs????? MUST be NGK BP6ES-11 Maybe plug reach is too long? 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
The best way to get to the root of any problem is to go back to what happened to make the problem appear. Did the vehicle just sit? Was the hood open with the air cleaner off (water intrusion)? Were parts robbed off of it during that time? Did it have an oil leak and now the pan is empty? Then there is the basic checklist. Did you check the oil before trying to bring it back to life? 2 Quote Link to comment
