Crashtd420
Is It just the inner cable your trying to replace, then I would say yes it's possible. If the it's the outer case that is bad than maybe not.... the oem cable is threaded into the fire wall... Doesn't mean you can't get creative, but I do believe the oem cable is still available... racerx
just curious how did it melt? Quote Link to comment
DanielC
There should be a ground wire from the alternator frame to one of the voltage regulator bolts, and a second ground wire from the negative battery cable at the cylinder head, also to the alternator frame. These ground wires connect the cab sheet metal to the engine. Without them, the cab sheet metal grounds through the throttle cable. The inner throttle cable is much smaller than the ground wire should be, and made of steel. It just gets hot, and melts the outer plastic cable. Anyone with a 521, make sure these two ground wires are good! 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I melted two 521 throttle cables. The battery wasn't secured and fell over, jamming the positive terminal to the body. Current flowed down the throttle cable to the grounded block. The second one was because I believed this could never happen twice. Grounded the body and bungeed the battery in place.
