BigD
If any if anyone knows where I can get a ka24de for a pickup and an intake and wiring harness from a 240SX I would like to build that motor and put it in my 86 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Junk yards, homie. You'll want the head from the 240sx also. Less headache later on. Quote Link to comment
HOGIE
Houston Copart. Auction ends 12-13-16 https://www.copart.com/lot/22986506/?resultIndex=19&totalRecords=345&backTo=%2FsaleListResult%2F11%3Flocation%3DTX%20-%20Houston&from=%2FlocationDetail%2F11&displayStr=Sale%20List%20for%20TX%20-%20Houston&viewedLot=22986506 Early 2WD Frontiers have KA24de. Get the intake off craigslist. The 240 drifter guys usually swap out these motors so parts can be found Quote Link to comment
HOGIE
Or you could just put the motor out of this in your truck https://www.copart.com/lot/15819506/?resultIndex=0&totalRecords=1&backTo=%2FlotSearchResults%2F%3Ffree%3Dtrue&query=nissan%20skyline%20gt&query=nissan%20skyline%20gt&displayStr=Search%20Results&viewedLot=15819506 Quote Link to comment
BigD
Well I think I'll just buy that truck and start driving it already has the motor in it LOL Quote Link to comment
HOGIE
Well I think I'll just buy that truck and start driving it already has the motor in it LOL I looked at it again and didn't realize it's a column shift auto. There is also a 620 in that yard that has side drafts. Quote Link to comment
BigD
Will the column auto shift bolt up to my standard 5speed or do I need to get a standard block. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I think we all need a better understanding of what your goals are. What are you wanting to do? And why? What is you are working with? What is your skill level? Quote Link to comment

BigD
Well my problem is a 86 Nissan Pickup Z24 with a blown motor as a 5 speed standard and a single cab my skill level is if I have instructions I can do just about anything I have R&R many Motors mainly I start with longlocks but occasionally have built a short block prefer not to mess with heads because you have to have so many specs to put them on I was reading on this forum where you should have a truck ka24de and a 240SX manifold and wiring harness except for Icehouse who makes the Box I guess you can use that and I probably would Quote Link to comment
BigD
I never really gave much thought to Nissan until I got this truck. couldn't find any Z24 Motors that had less than 250,000 miles on them so I thought it would be great to build the next one. it looks pretty simple just getting that truck ka24de and the 240SX intake and then somebody said I should use the head also. I don't know where do you stop you know what I mean then we can also go turbo. I'm not going to do that because of the expense and cost at this time so I guess without breaking the bank I would like to buy the truck ka24de and 240SX intake( don't know what year model I should use as there seems to be variations through all of them including the 240SX) Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You know that going to a KA from a Z24 also means converting to EFI from a carburetor? All the wiring, different fuel pump etc.? Why not get a DE from a truck. They have a throttle body intake that you can easily make an adapter plate for and run your Z24 carburetor on. Then you only need a distributor. No EFI or wiring, no looking for the 240sx intake, no fuel pump. It's a KA24E but DE is similar... I think it has a DE now so read the project build for ideas. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/3811-my-77-kc-620/page-19 Quote Link to comment
BigD
What year model engine number excetera excetera do I need to look for that sounds like a great idea Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Looks like '98 and up Hardbodys. You will need a four plug distributor. You may be able to use your Z24 distributor and leave 4 of the plug wires off. I would read the post I linked to find out how Farmer Joe solved this. 1 Quote Link to comment
BigD
I think my Z24 is throttle body injected so do I use my intake or the one on the Ka. also how long did they make that, 98 to when Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If you have two wing nuts on the air filter you have throttle body Z24i. BigD
Okay yes I do have to Wing nuts so with that in mind what do I need to do Quote Link to comment
BigD
*two Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Well the suggestion was for a carbureted 720. You have TBI fuel injection so there is much more to convert it. It might be easier to keep the KA24DE as EFI as you already have the proper high pressure fuel pump. Quote Link to comment
BigD
I don't know this so sorry if I seemed stupid I'm guessing the 240sx does not have throttle body injection Quote Link to comment
HOGIE
93 Hardboady with ka24e https://www.copart.com/lot/38036476/?resultIndex=3&totalRecords=371&backTo=%2FsaleListResult%2F11%3Flocation%3DTX%20-%20Houston&displayStr=Sale%20List%20for%20TX%20-%20Houston&viewedLot=38036476 Quote Link to comment
BigD
I was just thinking about this as well will my intake bolt up to a Ka24e and if so could not just get one of those and build that up and I'll be good to go with probably a lot of extra horsepower Quote Link to comment
HOGIE
Since you have a napZ trans already with a ka24e swap you can use your driveline and trans too. Find one cheap and smashed on craigslist. Also take the drop spindles and get 2" front drop Quote Link to comment
BigD
On that 93 you sent me the pic of does that have throttle body injection? And do I just use that distributor or mine? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I don't know this so sorry if I seemed stupid I'm guessing the 240sx does not have throttle body injection Not stupid and nothing that can't be fixed will lots of research. Both the truck and car KA24E and KA24DE have throttle bodies but multi point injection (one injector for each cylinder mounted right at the head ports.) The truck just uses a slightly different kind of vertically mounted throttle body, the 240sx is horizontal. The truck KAs lend themselves to a vertical mounted carburetor is all.
