Charlie69
Why are you changing heads? The U67 is the preferred Street head for a L20B. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
That. ^ Switching to the W58 from the U67 is lateral, if not backwards. Unless the W58 is a peanut. Quote Link to comment
Rollingstoned916
My u67 is blown Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
How does a cylinder head get "blown?" Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
You'll have some other interesting problems. Exhaust port design is different. It'll WORK, it just won't be optimal. And you'll want to make sure the water ports in the head are well sealed, since your manifolds, if original to the U67, don't have the matching water ports the W58 head has. Quote Link to comment
Rjawm
How does a cylinder head get "blown?" Drive on a blown headgasket long enough...granted the example in pic isn't a Datsun head, but still Quote Link to comment
distributorguy
Easily repaired. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The W58 will have two coolant openings that your U67 does not have but the manifold gasket will seal them closed, no worries. The W58 is basically the same as the U67 but has round exhaust ports with metal liners. Your U67 exhaust manifold has squarish ports. The round head ports will fit the square manifold... ok. I doubt you will notice any difference between them My u67 is blown Do not confuse this with a blown gasket. The gasket is cheap and easy to replace. One other thing. DO NOT remove the cam sprocket to remove the timing chain until you have found out how to secure the chain tensioner down inside. Failure to do this will almost double the amount of work needed to remove the head. Quote Link to comment
Rjawm
Easily repaired. Usually for much more than the head is worth, unless you have personal access to all the tools needed to make the repair. So not such a great option for most people. Quote Link to comment
