ByStickel
I'd like to out a 1 1/4" receiver on my wagon, but there isn't much to attach to. I'd only want to haul a light trailer and bike rack, so the loads will be modest. I don't have a roof rack and probably don't want one. I'm willing to do custom, and was thinking that a doubler plate could tie into the vertical panel inside the rear valence. or it could attach up through the floor. The forward portion could tie into the spare's bolt holes, since that force would be upward. Has anybody come up with anything? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You should list your vehicles in your profile (for next time) or at least mention what vehicle you are talking about. I had to dig up some of your posts to see 510. So I would connect something to the bumper mounting points. These will be the strongest by design. I hope this isn't an automatic. I wouldn't tow anything with an automatic. Quote Link to comment
67_1600
I've got a receiver on my wagon but I've never really looked to see how it's attached. Next time I have it out I'll take some pictures and post them up, which will hopefully be this weekend. I do recall seeing one for sale not too long ago but I can't remember if it was here, on CL or eBay. I checked each and can't find the listing so it must have either sold or the listing just expired. datzenmike
I think towing is designed into them just like crumple zones and body stiffness unlike an old Datsun. Quote Link to comment

I have a bolt on hitch in my storage that I removed from a wagon a few years back. I would be willing to part with it. PM me if you are interested and I will dig it out and post some pics. ByStickel
Qwick510, I'd love to see a picture of that hitch. Do you recall how much drilling was required or where it tied in? Thanks for the replies. Quote Link to comment

qwik510
The one I have was manufactured. It is made from 5/8" heavy steel. It looks like it was chrome plated. It is stamped " Gross weight not to exceed 1500 pounds and tongue wt. 100 pounds. There is a small bracket as seen in the pics for the safety chains to hang from. I really don't remember exactly what it was mounted to but you should get the idea from the pics. I remember thinking it was cool and I liked how it fit so I hung onto it. Quote Link to comment
