DrvnDrvr
Got a leather shifter boot from ebay but don't have the clips or any way to attach it to the console. Is there some kind of clips that do that? Looked thru Ratsun, haynes, Chilton, fsm, and nissanparts.com and didn't find a thing. Anybody got a console with a boot that can tell me how this works. Pics would be awesome. Thanks In Advance Al 1 Quote Link to comment

DrvnDrvr
Thanks guys, pretty sure I'll have to do something between binder clips and what ever I can find or make myself. Living in Central Oregon, 83 Nissan parts are very hard to come by. No 720s at local JYs, they actually laugh when I tell them what I need parts for. NOS parts through the dealerships are a PIA because they generate so little profit for the parts dept. Just not worth their time to look for me. Mentioned in a previous post about nissanparts.com probably doesn't have the little parts, let alone a dash clock,. @ $157.69. I don't really care that much what damn time it is anyway . Guessing not in stock anyway. When I bought this 720 I realized it would be a project but had I known how hard the parts would be to find I would have walked away. After buying I found out the the frame was slightly bent, the front CV axles were off of something else, the linkage for the parking brake is only half there, and from the tranny back works well enough but leaks here and there. The truck is very complete, I'm not interested into parting it out. Got the frame straightened out and most of the parts for the CV axles and P-brake. Thanks to all the Ratsun contributors for making this seem like a doable project. Ive learned a lot. The freshly rebuilt Z24 w/38 Weber, slight cam, header and big exhaust makes this thing a blast to drive. The power/weight ratio beats the crapola out of my 550k mi 22RE Yota. Being 6' I need a KC, I just don't fit in the Yota. I'm looking for a source for all those little parts I need to get this 83 720 as close to factory as possible. I plan on making a a JY/friend visiting trip over to the Willamette Valley/OR I-5 area at the end of next week. Any suggestions for what JYs have the most inventory of 720s? Wish List: clock, visor clips, front 4X4 crossmember, gutter chrome, KING CAB PASS. SIDE ALUMINUM valve cover, jack and tool set, CHROME grill CHROME FR TURN LIGHTS GRILLguard, 15” datsun/nissan factory wheels, front skid plate, BLACK HEADLINER BED & TAILGATE LINER COIL COVERS Glove box hinge SHIFT BOOT CLIPS and assorted other odds and ends. I'll be traveling from Albany to Yoncalla, subject to parts availability. 5419770051 Thanks in Advance , Al Sorry, it's late and I forgot how to post pics............................ 2 Quote Link to comment
Rhino13
When are you coming from Albany to Yoncalla? Do you live in Albany or Yoncalla? I'll talk to my buddy who had quite a few of these parts, I'll see if he still has them. Down in Cottage Grove there's a place called Taylor's Towing and they have a yard in back with an orange 720 with most of those parts, at least they were last time I was there a few months ago, and he said no one ever comes in asking about it. I have the bench seat out of the d21 next to it in my truck now, other than a tiny rust stain in the crack of the seat, it was almost new. If you call them they should be able to tell you what they have that you need. 2 Quote Link to comment
Rhino13
Also, I'd stray away from the bed liner idea unless you mean a spray on liner. I've owned 2 trucks that came with liners and the only reason I left them in was because the bed was already rusted out. 1 Quote Link to comment

Probable leave early Thursday morning. Yes please talk to your buddy. I'd really appreciate it. Emailed http://www.taylorsauto.comabout my wishlist, see what happens. I'll call them tomorrow. Truck bed is already rusted out along the front bottom and the inner tailgate is beat to hell. Thanks 1 Quote Link to comment
Rhino13
The bed at Taylor's was in good condition from what I remember. The guy I know is denmarkboy on here, he's really busy with the Canby truck, but he may be able to help you out Thursday. May also pm Harlow, he has a stash of 720 parts, some of which he may be willing to sell. Can't say either of them will be free, but I'd ask them both, they're always willing to help fellow Ratsun members. 2 Quote Link to comment
DrvnDrvr
Thanks Guam371, they worked great!!!! Sorry I didn't take pics., The thicker leather of the new boot made it a sob to get to work but eventually it did. Some Back to Black restorer, blue LEDs for the gauges and the shifter console looks great. Just use binder clips. lol Quote Link to comment
DrvnDrvr
Rhino, Called and emailed a guy at Taylor's and he never got back to me. My next project is the replacement of wrong CV axles anyway. Still tracking down all the parts for that. Thank you for your suggestions. The Canby truck looks great. Those guys are getting a lot done. Time is an issue as the busy season at work is at hand and wood cutting will be restricted sooner than I'd like. My truck is an on/off hobby thing and will progress much slower. I'm going to try and make it to Canby with my shopping list, 720, a fat wallet, and a few days off to get my project moving along. Business is done best in person in my experience. Hope to see you there. The bed at Taylor's was in good condition from what I remember. Rhino13
Huh, I wonder if they changed management. The guy who co-owned it was the one who always answered the phone, he returned my call the one time I left a message. The Canby truck is awesome, I'm really glad I have been able to partake in quite a bit on the truck. Now it's time to reassemble! Hopefully you get what you need out of this season and you're able to come to Canby. Business is absolutely done best in person, and Canby is excellent for that. I may be able to get my hands on that grill guard and stock wheels, I can pm you later today when I find out. If so I'll bring them to Canby with your name on them. 1 Quote Link to comment

DrvnDrvr
I'll just have to be persistent in my hunt for parts. While it's great to find the perfect part at a great price the people I've met along the way are just as valuable. I'll give Taylor's another chance, who knows what happened. I'm planning on making Canby if for nothing else to see what others have done with their 720s. Still trying to pick a color for mine. The red it is now just isn't my style. Going blue or green. Plowing through the Canby thread reminds me of my Renn Faire days and the camaraderie. That truck is a must see. Please keep me updated on those parts, many thanks!!
