tysonb033
August of 14 I bought my first Datsun. I believe he said he was a member on here, but I'm not sure. I now have time to start working on my 76 620. One of the first things on the to do list is lowering the suspension. I want the truck as low as the one in this link: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-twwUBx9aLSs/UqhxrsYZzBI/AAAAAAAACbM/vNjFPsxotF4/s1600/Datsun+620+wheels+01.jpg The questions I have are: Is there a lowering kit? What are some good, reliable part brands/what website or store is most recommended to order? Would the frame have to be "c-notched" for my desired height? If so, how dangerous is a "c-notch"? What are the wheel specs on that truck (approximately)? Would I have to worry about my wheels rubbing with that ride height? How low is this from original height/how much of a drop is it? I basically want my truck to look like that when it comes to height and wheels. An inch lower is fine. As for the paint and everything else, I have different plans. I'm only 18 so I haven't had much modding time/experience. Everything else on my list I know I can do, but i'm not so sure about the suspension. I have access to plenty of tools and equipment to help with the mods. Any info I get will be much appreciated. It doesn't have to match any of the questions because i'm sure it will answer future questions. If any members have questions about my vehicle before they can help answer my questions, feel free to ask. 2 Quote Link to comment
teagueauto21
Best thing to do would be lowering blocks and crank down the torsion bars, there are some really good right ups already on this process use the search function and read up and you will find all the answers you seek!! Also we all love pics here so i would suggest posting some of your truck, or these guys will eat you alive! LOL 2 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
That really isn't that low for how low a 620 can go. Lowering blocks, shorter shocks and reindexing the torsion bars are all you have to do. 2 Quote Link to comment
5t341tH
that looks about like mine. Should be 3" lowering blocks in the rear. 30 bucks at your local parts store. for the front, you can reindex the torsion bars. search on here and you will find it. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I don't think you need to worry about shorter shocks. The 620 has rubber bump stops and the suspension will bottom on them before the shock does, else why have them. 1 Quote Link to comment
teagueauto21
Most people take the stops out or cut them so they are not riding on them, if you do this then your shock will bottom out and eventually bust. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
This is true but a long way off yet. If your bump stops are cut or removed for even more lowering you aren't using the shocks anyway as the air in the tire is your suspension... and a bouncy one at that. 1 Quote Link to comment
teagueauto21
True, and it will also reduce shock travel so adding some shorter shocks will make the ride a little more bearable. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
True. I don't think he's that far. ... yet. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
If we tell him to use 4" blocks, 2* wedges and 1" square tubing under the carrier bearing he will be. 1 Quote Link to comment

Charlie69
Welcome and congrats on your new 620! I agree your 620 looks to be lowered about 2", beautiful truck by the way. Here is a link started by a 16 year old that has some great ideas and implements them well. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/1725-hackeds-521-turbo-bagged-right-hand-drive/ Here is a link on torsion bars. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/63543-video-how-to-reindex/ The search engine can open up a whole new world to you as a new Datsun owner. Many things that are customized on these trucks are written about here. You have your whole life ahead of you so enjoy it! Have fun! I have insomnia real bad and when I can't sleep I get on Ratsun and read. I learn a lot from other members and try to contribute as much as I can. 2 Quote Link to comment
