Twodoordime
Well some people might remember this car from a few years ago. It was abandoned and lien sold to me for free. I tossed a bunch of worn out, beat up, rusty parts on it that weren't in good enough condition for my other 510's and had a little driver. I blew up the free l16 and put in a free ka24e. I then moved to Idaho for a couple years, then Chicago, then back to San Diego where the car had been sitting. Last week i dragged it out of my dads backyard, put it in the garage, and started to get it back together. So far I have rebuilt the ka24e, fitted a jetta radiator, ran new fuel hard lines, deleted emissions, installed the fmic, ebay manifold, turboXS bov, turbonetics wastegate, oil feed, and the garrett ballistic turbo (from my integra). JWT is 2 miles from my house so he will be doing the tuning. I just ordered 680cc injectors, and a few couplers to finish the fmic install. I also am going to build a downpipe on my next day off then off to the tuner. My goal is 300whp on this motor and 400 on the new motor I am building. The fmic was off my 1jz supra (now i have a 1jz fc rx7) so its entirely too big for a 510 but I have almost no cash invested in this car so why not keep using what I have left over from my other cars. Anyway onto pictures. This is how I got the car. It was abandoned and lien sold to me. Then I did minimal bodywork to get it looking fairly normal and primed it. then I popped the l16 and put a free ka in. The car then sat for 3-4 years and I actually sold it and bought it back. This is it the day I put it in the garage. I then needed wheels because the ones I used to store the car and that were on it when I painted it were horrible. I ordered these from a used car part place in japan and they arrived after about a month. Slapped them on the car Installed the quik-latch hood pins This picture is a few days old of the motor. Its a little further along than in this picture but you get the idea. Anyway that's where i'm at. Just for shits and giggles these are 2 of my other vehicles. First my rx7 with 1jzgte. I am finishing up converting it from stock twins to single gt35. I am also running a cd09 350z trans. Then of course my daily driver 720. I bought this from the original owner 6 years ago for $340. I have put 33,000 miles on it (it has 98,000) and it is the slowest vehicle on the planet. Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
?? What year 510? Do you want to register it in California or Illinois? Big difference depending on the unstated year of manufacture. Turbo add on may be a problem with the bean counters. Quote Link to comment
Twodoordime
It's currently registered in California. All of my cars are registered in California. Also, there are ways around smoging vehicles. It's a 70, pre 75 smog cut off. 1 Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
Very nice, keep up the up dates. Quote Link to comment
Twodoordime
Did some wiring on the car today, pulled the car out of the garage in order to sweep the floor and get it ready to be loaded up to go to my buddies shop to do the downpipe. I originally ordered the wheels for my unflared fj car so they are pretty narrow for this car. I love the look but not the sizing for a flared car. 4 Quote Link to comment

Twodoordime
looks good man, nice to see another single cam ka turbo car i felt like the only one on here lol. Right on jeph! I am actually a big fan of the sohc ka, with sr's being so expensive, dohc ka's prices have climbed, the sohc ka with a turbo really is something to consider. I actually have 3 sohc ka's in my garage (one in the white 510, 2 on engine stands). I only paid for 1 of them and it was something like 75 bucks. 1 Quote Link to comment

jeph
and 300hp is not hard to get out of the single cams and 300hp in a 2000lb 510 will be plenty lol. 1 Quote Link to comment

The motor in the car is stock, I am going for 300whp on it and am confident it'll make it no problem as long as the tune is on point. 1 Quote Link to comment

Jim Wolf is a friend of a friend so I'm having his shop do it. JWT is less than a mile from my house so I'm just going to tow it in and have then work their magic. I thought about doing nismotronic or even megasquirt but with JWT being so close I figure I'll give them a try. 1 Quote Link to comment

Twodoordime
This build is not dead, or sold off. In fact it has made some big moves forward. I'll post some pics tomorrow of the new set up....don't be excited about cosmetics lol, only engine mods. 1 Quote Link to comment

Twodoordime
Back when I pieced this car together it was a very budget build. A billion couplers piecing together random pipes to make something that resembled intercooler piping, a giant hole in the trans tunnel, no door panels, vw radiator, etc etc. Well I decided to step up the build slightly. It's still my beater and definitely a pretty crappy condition 510 but the engine set up isn't too bad. Ka24e, garret t3/t4, tial 38mm wastegate recirced into the exhaust, greddy bov, 3" stainless downpipe, very short intercooler piping with minimal couplers, aluminum door panels, and finally covered the stupid trans tunnel hole lol. Anyway here are a couple pics, I work during the day so I only play with the car at night. I'll try and get some daytime photos up close of the parts so you guys can judge me. 1 Quote Link to comment
Twodoordime
I still plan on converting to map before getting the car tuned. Still working on: Aluminum rear panels New gauges (currently only have factory 510 gauges) Pull factory 510 tank and install fuel cell Roll bar Wider wheels and tires CV axles And finally to stop spending money on this car and start spending money on my FJ20 car lol 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Interesting door panels. You make those yourself? Quote Link to comment
Twodoordime
Interesting as in you like them or hate them lol? Quote Link to comment
Twodoordime
Also I'm in the market for a back seat (at least a bottom), hood, deck lid if anyone in SoCal (or can ship) has any of these please pm me. Quote Link to comment
dukerollo
I like the budget builds. Keep us updated. Quote Link to comment
Twodoordime
Closer pics of the fab work. The rear panels are done, unfortunately the pics are dark. Also that ugly paint in the back looks stellar against that fresh aluminum. Quote Link to comment
Twodoordime
Radiator almost done, coolant overflow done, bov mounted. Passenger side of the engine bay fab work almost finished. Still gotta add clamps and clean up the wiring but it's starting to come together. Quote Link to comment
