Not sure how I've never noticed it but the plate between the trans and block is half gone......

Not supposed to see a flex plate from that angle....

But between all this BS....

I should be able to harvest what I need

So I guess I'm doing a rear main seal too ;)

Love this little install tool, can't remember who on here made it but I've used it atleast half a dozen times and it works flawlessly

The shifter linkage had bushings at one point....

Kinda like these -.-

So in true Ratsun style I scrounged up a solution

As it so happens some fuel line I had laying around works perfectly for a ghetto bushing ;)

Worked pretty good(in theory) time will tell

Out of the 3 auto fails I have in the back of the truck one was from a maxima, the other 2 are potential candidates for the truck

But the cleanest tranny wins in my book ;)

Going back in time.. I probably should have bought that tool. It's not a requirement.. but seems like it would speed it up a bit.

Makes it easy to make sure the seal isn't driven in too far and it's nice and level all the way around, I've prob loaned it out as many times as I've used it :D

I really don't like putting transmissions in by myself..... Drop one on urself and it seems to change ur perspective a bit :/

So while I wait for a buddy to see if he has free time b4 attempt it myself I figured I'd stay busy

flushed the rad the best I could

Nanner, teddy, Nelson, and (I believe) nelsons other half came by last Saturday to do some needed parts swapping!

Nanners sweet little basket case!

Nanner got a new dash for the 411, and teddy picked up my last NOS 620 carrier bearing.

Ohhhh, ahhhhh. Drool.....

But!!

I was able to get some black 620 door cards from teddy in trade toward the carrier bearing. They are in good shape and came with all the matching hardware!!! Delivered at no extra cost cus teddy rode with Nanner who already planned on coming ;) so I pulled the trigger :D

really the door cards weren't "needed" but this way my dad don't have to pay shipping later down the road or the gas bill for me to pick em up ;)

cus I know eventually my OCD woulda taken over and I prob would have found a way to convince him that blue door cards in black interior was wrong.... And had to go

(the canby show is always a reason to have the datsun lookn properly color coordinatedright :p )

Got a down pipe from teddy too since he's Mr 620 spare part master.... ;) this is actually the correct down pipe for the mani I'm running on this truck now. You know just incase the exhaust shop needs it to tie into the existing exhaust or I find someone close by willing to lay down a quick bead for me ;)

And the new throttle cable came in mail finally

Unfortunately, while the Datsun gang was there I got the call no Datsun person ever wants to get.....

You know.... One of "those" calls, that turns you white as a ghost and lost for words....

The throttle got stuck on the goon and Jessi found the truck Infront of her :/

So back to this truck I went!

First up..... Doing this transmission install I've been putting off for a long while :/

NismoDr loaned me this cute little tool!

1EA1DF76-8906-4CD2-84CB-4F3796D8E0E6_zps

Holds the torque converter in place until the trans is up and in position, worked like it was designed that way......

Took me and my little bro a couple hours to finally get everything lined up right and the bell housing bolts in. But done is done!

Next was something I've wanted to do since we picked up the truck.....

My OCD was going bonkers!!

The Blue door cards, blue knob on the window crank(only one side, other was black...), and the screws holding the door cards on we're driving me nuts.

The truck never came with the nice formed/shaped metal lines that go around the front of the motor.....

And the red coolant line wasn't gunna fly either -.-

07498C90-83D0-4A27-BFB3-70CA2524E37C_zps

Which ment 3 things;

- all new hoses for the fuel and coolant systems!

&

- I spent some time playing with hoes and how I wanted them to lay ;)

&

a fresh fuel filter for good measure

Thought zip ties and a "T" fitting would work to replace the metal lines I'm missing and keep the new matching black hose away from the fan blade and still allow coolant to flow through all the passages it was supposed.....

F3C1A3DD-BAD5-4DFB-9397-CCFDE5AA7308_zps

But I diddnt trust em :/

So I reused an old bracket for the coolant line

87BE84FE-7FF6-4506-8307-C6CE09AED54A_zps

And made another bracket for the fuel line

Much happier with the 2nd outcome :) still used a few zip ties but there's something comforting about nuts n bolts :D

Next up will be some strategic black paint additions(rad, brakebooster, few spots in the bay, ect)

Then hopefully I stay on track and wrap up the driveline/ carrier bearing install next

Still need to hook up the hardlines, gear selector, speedo cable, tranny x-member and a few odds and ends too.
