goforit
I bought a 1969 Datsun 521 Motorhome out of Oregon a few weeks ago. My husband and son picked it up and brought it home for me to begin building. Thankfully, I don't have to worry at all about the drive train, that is up to them. My concern is with the camper interior. The A/C unit was removed by the wind on the drive home, so now I have a skylight. I don't really want a skylight, but that can be fixed (way later). There is quite a bit of work to do to this thing to make it road-worthy again, but I believe that anything is possible with some determination, and a lot of cash. The roof leaks terribly, and has for some time now. A lot of the beams are rotted, (which is why the A/C came off so easily) and the beams will have to be removed and replaced. The floor also has a lot of mold and rot, given that the roof didn't do it's job. My first priority is to get the roof closed up and water tight, so we can begin to renovate the inside without more water damage. I will have to remove and rebuild most of the fixtures inside, but plan on using as much original as possible. I'm not really wild about the avocado green sink and stove, but will most likely stick with the original color scheme. I'm really excited about this build, and will keep you updated as we progress. Once I figure out how to post pics, I will add those to this thread. 1 Quote Link to comment
