Oregon_PLG222
I have a NOS AM/FM Hitachi radio that I'm wanting to install in my 70 521. The Nissan box that the radio came in says 200sx/810 and I have done some research and it appears to be for a late 70's to mid 80's and should also fit some trucks of those years. The radio has a plug socket in the back to receive the wire harness plug in said vehicle. However, obviously my 70 521 does not have such plug. So, I have some crimp on wire clips that I can put onto my hot and speaker wires to attach to the appropriate male parts on the radio. But, I have no idea which tabs on the radio are for what. Which one is hot, speaker, maybe auto antennae, etc.? Does anyone have this info? I have searched all over the net and looked through about 8 of the Datsun repair manuals I have but I can find nothing. I have been trying to get the plug from a junk yard to no avail. http://i1240.photobucket.com/albums/gg493/bldgplans/20140623_195730_zps043a7038.jpghttp://i1240.photobucket.com/albums/gg493/bldgplans/20140623_195743_zpsecbadaa3.jpghttp://i1240.photobucket.com/albums/gg493/bldgplans/20140623_195713_zps7085e162.jpg Quote Link to comment

Oregon_PLG222
Thanks wayno for the fix on the pics. Does anyone have a picture of the wire harness plug for the radio? I can wire it with crimp on plgs if I know which one is hot and which are speakers. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
A wiring diagram for a late 1970's or early 1980's 200sx, or 810 may have the pinout of the radio connector. There are four wires under the ashtry on your 521 that are for the hookup of the radio. Black wire is ground. One wire is hot all the time. It is for the elusive factory clock. One wire is hot with ignition, good place for power for a tachometer, or something else you only want on with ignition. One wire is for accessory, hot when key is in "run", or turned backwards one click, for accessory only. The radio will need connections for power, a ground, speaker plus, speaker minus, and interior light. Possible sixth connection, power antenna. Quote Link to comment
260zkaboom
the info is here: http://311s.org/Pics/tech/RadioIpodWiring05.jpg it may be worth it to get the multi-connector clip to secure the wires off a junkyard car. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
There are dozens of different Datsun radios with differing wiring. This is common for a six-terminal connector: * speaker R * speaker common ground * speaker L * radio ground * ACC power * Lamp power Quote Link to comment

MikeRL411
Strange, but in my experience most Japanese made ca radios have a connection diagram glued to the bottom of the radio. Quote Link to comment
Oregon_PLG222
Mike, I agree and have seen many with a diagram label. This one is brand new (nos) but has no label. Tonight I'm going to open the case and see if I can identify hot wire, speakers, etc. Quote Link to comment
