POS Bluebird Coupe but it is still a Coupe

Recommended Posts

Getting the left door ready for assembly,

Started with a cherry left door and drilled out the window frame, get the door mounted and realized upper right area by the handle doesn't line up as well. However the rest of the door and fender lines up very well. I going to go with it. may be I'm just being picky

Cut and flange, on other cars I have seen people just cut, but to flange it will help make it more rigid.

Are you going to see those cuts from the inside of the trunk?

yes while the taillights are out u will see the cuts. Once the taillights are in and mounted premenitly you will not know the difference, other then this project build, between a coupe and converted 2 door.

WOW Good job James

thanks Dave

And now on to spare fenders. The Bluebird fenders were, well lets say, interesting.

I used a weld through primer on the inside areas of the patch and fender. This is a hard area to seal once welded up. However the weld through primer does not promote your spot welds to lay down as well.

The new owner (if everything goes as planned) will actually get this bird reblasted and sealed once he starts the project in the future. I don't know what his color will be or anything else. He told me it will go in to storage for a minute while he finishes another dime.

90% of the differences between the coupe and a 2 door is the roof, window frames and glass
