millican
Here again I get to show how little I know. What is this thing that slides around on the leaf spring? It seems to serve no purpose other than to rattle. I've checked the manual and tried image searches for leaf springs and not found one like these. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Looks like a capture plate to keep the springs in line. Can't say that I have ever seen one like that before though. Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
its a 720 im guessing right? if it is, thats just a damper nissan added to take away from the shudder of an old clutch and bumps. just cut em off if its rattling around... Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
I believe theyre supposed to slide under the overload & like Redeye mentioned "keep" the leafs together when you catch ! JK... Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
My 80 720 doesn't have that. I am not sure but I believe it is a transfixated hydrocillating antidiscombobulator. 1 Quote Link to comment

720warpony
hi you can eliminate it I have rebuilt many spring packs including my 85 720 I am driving now Quote Link to comment
Yeti
My 82 4x4 has them too. Left me scratching my head as well but I got bigger rattles yo worry about Quote Link to comment
xsdg
I've got them on my '85. There should be another piece that's attached to one of your leaves. There's some rubber that connects that piece to the leaf, but the rubber probably disintegrated on yours. Quote Link to comment
Robert
Harmonic damper for spring vibration. Cut it off. Springs stay aligned by large pins on the axle. Quote Link to comment
millican
I unbolted it and recycled it a week ago or so. The other seemed to be staying in place, so I left it. Thanks again! Quote Link to comment
