Exhaust? What exhaust?

FINALLY! My 720 is running. It's time to put it on the road. BUT first, have to do something about that open header. Lol. I'm looking for a nice deep tone. Nothing like the rattle like some rice rockets. A deep, mellow tone. Any ideas?

For a nice deep tone, run an open muffler like a flowmaster 40 or 44 series, Cherry Bomb Vortex, or magnaflow, keep it close to the collector then run your pipes all the way to the back of the truck, Another good one for a deep tone is to get the longest glass pack you can find and run the pipes all the way to the back of the truck. I'm using a Cherry Bomb Vortex muffler single inlet dual outlet with the pipes exiting at the rear and it sounds really nice and deep. You can get either the single or the dual outlet option with Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Cherry Bomb, and a few others if you like the look of the dual exhaust, there's no performance benefit by running the dual outlets, but it does look and sound good.

The key for a deep tone tho is to put the muffler as far forward as you can and run the pipe or pipes as far back as you can, the longer the pipe is the better the tone, and mandrel bent pipes do tend to sound better as well.

I was thinking of stopping the exhaust at the front of the rear axle. Whatcha think? Think it will sound deep?

Was gonna lower the truck and didn't want the exhaust pipe sticking out.

My 620 had a turn down exhaust before..did sound kool but the exhaust smell that got in the cab was too much.

had a flowtech raptor for a good while. sounded good on the L, the Z and the KA. 

 

have a magnaflow muffler now that im gonna weld on.

 

i watched a bunch of videos with KAs with the magnaflow muffler and they sound good too..

I have some long tube header straight piped to a Flowmaster 40 on my Z24. Sounds nice. Does kind of drone around 2k-2500. I like drone though :)

On my truck I run the largest muffler I could find with a 45 degree down bend before the axle. Not interested in sound... it masks too many things, one of which is my sound system..

Most recommend - for deep sound - a turbo muffler or a Borla/Flowmaster design. The Borla is stainless so lasts. Flowmaster is not so rusts.

 

Definitely not glass packs on a four-cylinder. "Cannon" can mufflers are usually just fat glass packs.
