SHARPSHOOTER280Z
so, quick update My gasket kit came on today :hyper: two weeks later... i was able to start assembling the engine! My heads are currently being tested at the local shop, but i did find a set of more desirable heads on good ol' EBay, hoping i get those, as it would end up cheaper in the long run. messy and cramped work area, i know, but its what i got till i move to a new place. cdub42
need an engine stand? Quote Link to comment
SHARPSHOOTER280Z
need an engine stand? I could use a different one, this one belongs to zman73. Bent all to hell after holding his 7MGTE for like three months; so after this, this stand is probably getting scrapped. Quote Link to comment
SHARPSHOOTER280Z
quick, semi-sweet update.soooo things are kind of on hold, ebay snipers took the water pump pulley i found for the 215 :bye:. not too excited about trying to find another one, but i might be able to make the pulley from my l20b work... maybe.on the upside of things, zman73 was a good toyota freak and found me these... 15X12 Alcoa wheels, should look SWEET on the truck. :sneaky: That's it for today, I did win some awesome heads on eBay, so those should be here in a week or so. Then I can sell my old heads and the bare castings. Quote Link to comment
SandyMush620
The Alcoas will look good. I take it you're not going to run 31x10.50's. Quote Link to comment

Hahaha no, 33X12.5R15 for now, later im going to upgrade to 33X13.5R15 Nitto Mud Grapplers. My discount at work should knock the price down to just under $200 per tire Quote Link to comment

Personally, I'm not a fan of coopers for the offroad. Don't get me wrong, the A/T3 is an excellent tire for a commuter, but its somewhat more prone to puncture and sidewall separation than most others. Quote Link to comment

q-tip
If its off road you're after then why get an A/T, the best mud tire I've ever run was the Daytona M/T from about 10 years ago, cleaned great flexed like you wouldn't believe and held a bead like no other, but good luck finding a set Quote Link to comment

SHARPSHOOTER280Z
today started out good, but things went south fast...so i received my long awaited heads today, after much prancing and pacing in exitment, i realized something... these are not the heads i wanted! these are 2-bbl, low compression scrap to anyone not doing a restoration. damn. yuck... hey look, free spark plugs... oh, and a free head gasket too... whoo hoo... wrong effing series number... this is a side by side of the castings i have, low compression on the left, high compression on the right. oh, but why not use the high compression castings i have? had them hot tanked, revieled some nasties... not sure how bad these really are, but im just a little weary of them and the ebay seller i got the low comp heads from is compensating me with another set of guaranteed high compression heads. three out of eight nicked cylinders... anyway, more waiting... yippee!
