metalmonkey47
Anyone have a picture of the timing chain wedged with the timing cover off from the front? I'm trying to decide how to wedge the tensioner so I don't loose it. Can't afford to loose that. Yes I've searched. Also, holy hell 20 degree's is cold. Quote Link to comment

metalmonkey47
Thanks man!!! For the record I was planning on ordering one of those, but got lazy and forgot. Crap. Guess I'll go cut some garden hose. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I like these best as it does not require pounding it in. Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
I have the exact same wedge tool & it works great. When loosening the cam eccentric bolt you may want to check it / tap it back into place. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The cam eccentric/sprocket retaining bolt is best loosened before setting TDC and fitting the 'wedge'. Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
So clearly the FelPro gasket is insufficient for an LZ. Turns out the combustion chamber on the head seems to have been modified and opened up slightly, which explains why I was having low compression issues on cylinder 1. The gasket wasn't hardly sealing on the head, and seeped into the water jacket and oil galleys on 1 & 3. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The largest L series is the L20B and it's 85mm. It fitted over an 89mm cylinder hole. That may not crush the metal fire ring properly. A modified Z24 or KA gasket might be better. 1 Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
I have a nismo gasket on their now. It's a big bore gasket and the sealing surface overlaps really well, so it should be cherry 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I have some 87mm from Baz(Datsport) in Australia Head gaskets. 85mm Felpros I use on the L16s ,seems to work OK on them as it overlaps alot Quote Link to comment
