cdub42
I'm wondering if bundling my plug wires will cause misfire problems before I cut these things to length. They are MSD 8mm wires. I don't like the over the valve cover routing so I'm trying something different. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Long as they are new or good shape. Quote Link to comment
cdub42
Brand new. Haven't been cut to length yet Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes it can cause misfires. Always separate new wires. The spacing can be close, but should not touch. Crossing is OK, but not parallel bundling. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
It possibly may work, but I would avoid having the plug wires that close for that long of a run. The high voltage in one wire can induce voltage in the wires next to it. This induced voltage does rob energy away form where you want it to go. You basically are making a capacitor, by putting two or more conductors close to each other, with insulation between them. If it runs fine, you may be OK. If you have a random untraceable miss, you might want to move the plug wires back to the stock location, and see if the miss goes away. It is hard for the spark to jump the gap in the cylinder on compression stroke. If the electrical energy can get to ground by inducing a current in an adjacent wire, easier than jumping the gap on the cylinder in compression, it will. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I'll err on the side of caution and have to agree with the boys on this. See if you can find a Z series motor. They have several 4 wire loom clips arraigned in a tight square pattern that should work and still look really good. It's raining but you get the idea... Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
They don't have to physically leak to throw a monkey wrench in the spokes. Spread them fuckers apart !! Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
Most "speed shops" sell metal loom separator plates, usually for V8s. Some straight six plug wire separators should exist but are not as popular so supply might be a problem. Quote Link to comment
cdub42
So, I went out and got a set of V8 valve cover wire guides. I'm modifying them to be straight 6 wire guides. Quote Link to comment
