Zeusimo
I Measured My Head And It Was 4.292? I Will Get A Different Mike To Verify Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Near the bottom of the first paragraph... http://www.olddatsuns.com/html/tech/head_ID_2.htm I have several heads and they were all 4.248" or just about 4.25". Others have claimed 4.260" but I don't know what was used to measure them with and I only have what I got on mine. When measuring a thickness you can never measure less than what's there but it's easy to measure crooked and your measurements will always be larger than they really are. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
When I know I'm seeing 4.25" on a tape measure-I still tell her 7. 2 Quote Link to comment
zed
^^ ROFL - I'm not American, but the humour on this site never lets me down - thanks Quote Link to comment
Z-train
Mike-I have a head here right now that measures 4.26 something.Unfortunately,it's junk. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Noted. Maybe the source only covered L16/18 heads. Is yours for an L20B?? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I meant Bill but if your A87 is tall, is it a closed chamber? Quote Link to comment
Z-train
I meant Bill but if your A87 is tall, is it a closed chamber? Yes-it's a U-67. O.K.-I'm a wee bit wet on this. My head here is 4.25-I just put calipers on it.The 4.26 is the number from the machine shop for out of the box new. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
How is a 1/100th" variance going to turn a head to junk? Even considering for dished pistons? Flats? Weary. Other than that. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I don't think that's the reason. It's a bad head (maybe warped, cracked, valve seat fell out) that measures 4.25 (or what ever) Quote Link to comment
