I guess it was thought to be an improvement but I don't know.... This was one of a few freak Pontiac engines Mickey Thompson experimented with? Both intake and exhaust on out board side of the heads. MT did all kinds of crazy stuff back in the early 60s. Those are without a doubt one off heads. I believe they still exist in a private collection. 2 Quote Link to comment

Chev Pontiac are... I thought it was a truck engine. I only remember GMC making V6 and V12s for their trucks but the V8s came from Pontiac or Oldsmobile. I did some research and found that they did build a 637 ci V8 for larger trucks and buses but it didn't look anything like that engine as it was the same design as their large V6 with 2 cylinders added.
