EdwardK
I have a sinking feeling this isn't a five speed like the guy said... Can someone confirm or deny this please? My truck is all ready for the new five speed, all I gotta do is give the tranny a good tug and it'll fall out, but I stuck the shifter in this one and I fail to find fifth. Thanks guys, -EKA Quote Link to comment
Tristin
What are the numbers on the side of the case? Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
If you can't find 5th, I'd bet it's not a 5spd. Should slot into 5th pretty easy... Side question: Is it hard to get in reverse? Quote Link to comment

Laecaon
I didnt think any of the 5 speeds came with a 6 bolt top cover in the tail stock. Dogleg? His question was aimed at the 5th/reverse synchro... 1 Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
His question was aimed at the 5th/reverse synchro... Indeed it was. B) Internal problems with getting it into 5th can sometimes present themselves when trying to put it in reverse also. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It's a 4 speed go get your money back. All 71B four speeds have a 6 bolt cover plate on top just forward of the shifter. The round thing is the breather... Dogleg? . Doglegs are always a smooth case without ribs, 26" long, and have 7 bolts holding the cover plate on. Dogleg 7 bolts..................................................... 71B only 5. Quote Link to comment
EdwardK
Ouch. Okay, thanks guys. Shoulda checked this BEFORE disassembling the truck. Ah, well. at least I have a spare. Live and learn, live and learn. Got the tranny with the truck for free, it's not like I lost money on it. Just time. Thanks again guys! Quote Link to comment
