JonU
Nice 240! You already know where I stand on the transmission decision lol. Can't wait to see what you do with this one. I think quite a few older project cars start out as just a get it fixed and running. Then you look at it and think that while I'm at it I'll do this as well. Before you know it your one time fixer upper has become a full blown project. 1 Quote Link to comment

It seems you are right on the money. I just want to make sure I have something in the end to drive lol (or close) ... versus tearing up cars all apart (good intentions) like I did when I was 13-14-ish ... Quote Link to comment

I'm BLUE
Well... I've been trying to be careful with my money , but parts must be ordered for reliability and enjoyability  I do know what I "think" it will cost to repair something ... usually ends up being 2-3x that ... (larger spectrum thinking) SO I learned to order only what I really need on that basis , and sometimes extras that should be done while in the area  Ordered what I consider to be ... a few parts ... even parts for more than 1 car :sneaky: ----------------------------------------------------------- -(4) half-shaft u-joints -(4) driveline u-joints -(1) 225mm release bearing -(4) R180-R200 side shaft seals. -(8) Front 240z Lug studs -(8) Rear 240z Lug studs -(2) slave cylinder "rebuild" kits. -(1) 240mm 280zxt Clutch Disc ----------------------------------------------------------- Same list BUT RockAuto confirmation style... Amazon.com Ordering... I need to/want to change my front pads to get a different "feel"... I put Beck-Arnley semi-metallics on them last time , and haven't been entirely happy. The pads work great when the car is rolling cold and haven't been used much. By the end of the day they "fade" just enough that it's annoying BUT not un-reliable at all ! IDK stfu DTP lol. ( It's also possible it's not the pads fault ... if that's the case I shall cry like little girl *russian accent* ) Wagner- ceramic brake pads $18.99 shipped to my door. I also wanted to get a resonator or cherry-bomb of some kind to break up the droning (which I like , but I end up deaf sometimes in 10 minutes of rollin ... lol ) SO !.... I ordered this little bass-turd ^^^ It was the "shortest" one I could find for what it is BUT I am using a Raptor turbo muffler in addition to this ^^^ "muffler" :ninja: If this doesn't work (as far as cutting the edge of the droning off/out..) I'm going to cut it off and get a Magnaflow or borla resonator. I DO like the loud exhaust though ... lol ^^^ I don't really understand exhaust stuff other than ... it's pretty cool ... and seems to be a science ! Too bad Idk what the crap I'm doing with it  I ordered 3 items. One of them is irrelevant... audio cordless headphones for watching TV  ^^^ silly update , but until I get my parts done , these come in , and other non-datsun stuff out of the way I'll be sitting on my hands lol. Thanks for reading DTP Quote Link to comment
Kirden
I like how it went from only what I need to but I wanted this, all in one post. ADD ftw bro! 1 Quote Link to comment

ADD ftw bro!   ... to true Kirden ... to true ! I contradict myself more often than I'd like to admit  (maybe I was trolling self ? trololol) 15-minutes in this little blue mini-beast and you'd be lookin for a resonator or second muffler to... hahaha ... it's cool ... it's just you'd be taking 5-10 aspirin on a 2-hour one way drive (done it lol) I have a brother .... his hearing is well :poop:(sorry bro if you're reading this) ... he even comments on the noise   I am kinda excited to see what it sounds like after the stuff gets installed :ninja: Quote Link to comment
Kirden
Yea, these little datsuns cn be really loud at times. I have a hole (or 4-5) in my exhaust and 75mph for 20mins on the trip to and from work makes me hearing impared for a while. I only notice it when I get home at 4am and turn on my stereo and wake the neighbors... Quote Link to comment

I'm BLUE
Moar boring updates ... Pulled an 3.36 R180 from storage and needed the stub-shafts from the sucker ! Plastic vent thingy is broken... doh !! Drained it Proceeding to pull drivers side shaft. moar coming... Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
passengers side being pulled (yes ,,, yes ,,, a ratchet with a socket would have been better lol ) Saving the side shafts for another day. Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
A member was in need of this diff , so I got it prepared for shipping. (Diaper... it took a :poop: .. ) And it's gone to a good home. 1 Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
Picked up a 4.11 R-180 diff .. Bolt-in ... BOO YEAH !!! Love the vent compared to the early R-180's plastic thingy... I have this differential , and half-shafts to swap in. I'll be putting in All new u-joints in the half-shafts and side-seals and rear-cover seal on the diff (pinion area looks good so I won't mess with it ..) It's a scary thought... BUT ... I found only 2 retaining clips on this side of the half-shaft installed ... yikes ! lol Popping out some clips.. Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
More clips in the u-joints... Doh ! Pressed the wrong one out first ... lol ... I was tired today Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
One was a GMB brand u-joint , and other is un-identifiable... that is until I scratch the dirt off and try to actually read it... The rest of this shall be taken apart (on both half-shafts) ... cleaned ... lubed ... sealed and re-booted ! moar coming ... not sure why I'm posting all these simply pics .. lol Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
Pulling/switching shafts in the "New to me" R-180. Looks like a thread-lock of somekind huh ? ... out she came... Side-shaft seal slightly questionable , but still in good shape ( I think ... lol ) I got (4) new side-shaft seals in the mail today courtesty of Rock-Auto ... Here's the number# if you need it. Old seal comes out New Seal resting and waiting to get pushed in ! Forgot I had this set ,,, lol Comparison of the shafts. Getting passengers side out.. Passengers side shaft out.. Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
Passengers side seal out.. yet again... cool shot of internals... New seal pushed in it's home. Old shaft ready to go in ! Rear diff is ready to go in (realistically) BUT... I shall be pressure washing this and the half-shafts with a thorough cleaning/bath. Then some paint or powder coat :D muahahaha Oh yeah ! I ended up using the "older" matching R180 shaft bolts (the ones that came out of my 3.36) in the "newer" R180 diff ... I "believe the bolts would meet in the center and *bind* when tightened down. I should have known better... but quickly realized it wasn't meant to be after a few seconds ( I guess I liked the newer shiney bolts and thought a thread or two longer wouldn't be enough to make a difference... errrr was wrong ... lol ) Cool looking diff Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
I also got my Wagner Ceramic Brake pads today. I'll be putting these on shortly hopefully ! ( They are not entirely clear on the instructions of lubrication and type ... or maybe I'm just slow.. lol ) I don't know anything about these .... have good hopes .... if they're crap I'll say so later on... lol Enough BS updates for now... I just like all the pictures :D Thanks for reading DTP Quote Link to comment
