521 hood scoop?

i have a 72' 521 that came w/ a raised motor because its on air bags, anyways when i bought it it came w/ an outragous hood scoop so that i really didnt like so i cut it off... I want to make a smaller hood scoop or something else not as big to cover the motor, any suggestions?

It look to me like you need the large hood scoop to clear the engine.  Maybe put a J-13 engine to give you more hood clearance, or raise the truck.

This is what a roadster hood scoop looks like on a 521.

 

It just doesn't work for me, and I can tell you why, the sides of the scoop are angled in as they move towards the front, but the hood itself is not angled in as it moves towards the front.

You need to find a scoop that when installed, will flow with the lines of the hood itself, this is why the 320 hood works.

See how the hood scoop edge moves towards the front at the same angle as the edge of the hood itself, it's all about flow IMHO.

I have heard that a early 70s scoop from a GM product of some sort looks good, I just cannot recall what car was mentioned ATM.

thanks, the smaller hood scoops look better than wat i had on, im just looking fo r ideas because most likely im going to make my own...

Ive seen this before, Im pretty curious as if '69-72 STOCK FLAT HOOD (520), Full Pin on' will work one the 521.

has anyone actually bought this hood for their 521?
