Z-train
As far as space goes, maybe i have "810 on the brain".Things are really,REALLY tight with a steering box. 1 Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
got the mount plate welded last night. look at this beautiful work, stackin' dimes. the welding was done by a guy I know, who used to work for Full Race, and he designed their 2jz header, and nsx exhaust system. originally I figured he would do a full pass, but he said if this breaks, then I am pushing too much power anyway. captaingamez
and the mount is all ready to drop in, with a little luck I should have the tranny in tonight. still a little confused on one thing though, if im using the exedy turbo clutch and flywheel, i should use my borg warner throwout collar correct? I think this will hold a few ponies 1 Quote Link to comment
ArchetypeDatsun
You using an NA tranny or the borg warner? 1 Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
using NA tranny, with 240mm flywheel and exedy 280zx turbo clutch kit. 1 Quote Link to comment
ArchetypeDatsun
I don't remember then if you can use the throwout collar might give HybridZ a scan there are some maxima turbo builds there. 1 Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
I have been searching for 3 days now and i still cant figure out the answer to my question. nobody seems to have written anywhere that the search engines will find, which throw out bearing collar goes to the exedy clutch kit. so even though we have this amazing internet resource of being able to search for info, its still useless, like it is in at least %50 of cases when I look for things for days and still cant get an answer. so i guess its gonna be trial and error, lets hope i get it right the first time, cause I love pulling trannies twice. 1 Quote Link to comment
Z-train
The PP should be matched to the car.So the collar will need to be for that car. 1 Quote Link to comment
ArchetypeDatsun
Yeah sometimes the search engines do that, maybe become a member at hybridz show what your working on and you should get answers! 1 Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
so I used the borg warner throw out collar, not the stock 5 speed one, though I think the fs5w collar would work as well on this clutch, but dont quote me there. I know for a fact that the BW collar is working fine. I still have to fab a plate to block out the shifter hole and fit my boot. I need to find a center console badly as well. I did find a very good condition original shift knob though. I meant to take pictures of the mount while I was under the car, but I forgot. 1 Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
mega updates, I have removed the dash and decided to restore the entire interior and rubber. heater box removed for restoration, thing is nasty, this is the main thing that made me start this project from this direction. gotta have AC in AZ..... dash parts, all in bad, faded, and/or cracked shape restored cleaned and disenfected heater box, with new radiator core, 1997 nissan truck, fits almost identical. new dash pad cut and fitted with insulation and installed Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
started restoring the dash, or i should say, completely rebuilding it from scratch with the metal frame stripped. I didnt take many pics of this, i had no idea what i was doing but it turned out good the door panels were also in dire need of as refreshening, I used black cruiser suede, and grey vinyl, the same vinyl is on the dashboard the blue plastic pieces will be changed to graphite color as i am de-blueing the interior. more de-blueing, done with SEM plastic paint, really amazing stuff, all the interior plastic trim is gonna be done in this, and hopefully I can find grey factory armrests at some point. [/url ] looks a little blue cause the light sucks in here. 1 Quote Link to comment

MikeRL411
You're doing very well! As to the carpet, you will either get to be an expert with a curved upholstery needle to fit the pieces together or you will have to check JCWhitney site and see if they have a 910 pattern [especially front] carpet kit. They do have loop pile kits. Good luck, it's looking great! 1 Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
seems i can get the headliner made for 110, and new black seatbelts sewed for $65, now if i can just find non blue seat belt buckles, I wonder is I could use the seatbelts from a different model....... OMG i got it, literally as I was typing this post, I will use the buckles and from a different model and use my retractor!!!!, brilliant!, now if i can just restore the retractor to "snap back " status i will have some awesome new seatbelts, maybe I can even find ones that say Nissan. edit: if i do it correctly, and find good ones, i wont even need to have the rears re-webbed. making this venture even cheaper!, we love cheap. 1 Quote Link to comment

captaingamez
whoops, I meant heater core, no its brass im pretty sure, it was like $69.00 at autozone and they had it in stock, its skinnier, but it fits in there perfect, and the valve is in the exact right position, same as the original, which was one of those brass/plastic deals. 1 Quote Link to comment
810wagn
Nice build man, I'm doing the same thing but mines a wagon. Where did you get your clutch lines? Did you also get a braided slave line? Im still trying to wrap up my motor build but this build is giving me all sorts of ideas and inspiration. Keep up the good work! Can't wait to see this finished. BTW there's a website called oeminteriors or something like that that sells carpet kits for the 910. They come in every color imaginable including neon. Lol I'll see if I can find the exact site. 1 Quote Link to comment

captaingamez
Theres a link on page one for a good clutch line, if that doesnt work then just search 240sx clutch line. the one I got was just a 48" long -4 an line with a 90 deg. end, and I got -4 an fittings that fit the master and slave cylinder. I see now that alot of places make carpets for the maxima, wish I had done the research before, oh well no matter, I guess im gonna become an expert with an upholstery needle, or get pissed and buy a carpet!!! :hmm: ;) 1 Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
updates for the night: well, the headliner needs to come the hell out, and to get it out in one piece that means glass is coming out first. I dont feel comfortable to do the front one enough yet..... all safe in one piece on the rear seatback 1 Quote Link to comment
