Now I can get on with the high steer / power steering conversion / front shock hoops / exo / paint / int / etc.

It took a full day just to figure out where I left off.

This is turning out to be a big build.

And it's all on spare time, what little I have. Gonna take a while.

Started the Flat top to high steer conversion yesterday on the 44 front. I will post pics as I get them.

I'm thinking of running the stock Datsun idler arm    ( lowered 1.5" )  . This will allow the use of a 1" drop pitman on the Yota IFS box.  I should end up with a flat ( parallel ) drag link by using this set up. Still working on the math....

Finally finished the new steering column.

Cut down the Datsun column and machined splines and key flat for Astro van slip and joints.

Machined a dellron bushing for the business end . Walahhhhh. Datsun to Chevy to Toyota column....

Dismantled the front axle last night . No pics yet, it's an axle , you;v seen one before.

I am converting it to a 1.50" high steer using Jeep flat top knuckles , in shop fabed arms , and links.

It will be a double cross system using an idler arm . Pics to come.....

OK . Back to the build.

The steering components arrived last night so I am back at it.

I am using Ford Dana 60 tie rod ends through out . Call it over kill but hey , why not?

I will post pics of the finished steering tomorrow.

Ordered 160' of 1.5" Dom yesterday for the exo.

Once the steering is finished, things should progress a bit faster as the rest of the build will be all in house fabed parts.

I hate waiting for vendors to get my parts to me. It's like watching paint dry....

I'm glad this is back on track! I check this and ]2eDeYes' build just about every day hoping for new content. You do good work and convey your ideas very well. (both are rare in Internet land).

I can't wait to see the exo. I'm collecting parts to cage my truck (Shhh, it's a chevy, don't hate)
