So...All the parts Nissan of N.America gets from Japan for Glolbal Market vehicles....Australia sources on their own?

Do you guys have island specific Nissan's no one else received to make your statement, as you say...Fact?

Still not seeing how what I said was untrue.

Well that's your opinion and you're entitled to it but that's all it is - an opinion not a fact.

The parts that have been manufactured for Nissan's here have been locally sourced not imported (fact),local steel, local workers, local companies making the components.

I never said they are fully manufactured here.

Again you are misquoting me and putting words into my points that I never typed.

I said some components e.g. engine mounts, brakes and other internal components for things like AC were made here.

The Nissan Motor Company had contracts with local companies in both the states of Victoria and South Australia to make these components.

When they (like other companies like Toyota and Ford and Mitsubishi) wanted to stop these contracts both state and federal govt's undertook negotiations to extend out these contracts to keep local jobs.

I have not stated anywhere that ALL of the cars were made here, that is an assertion you falsely state I made.

I did not say that anywhere.

My statements of fact never said any Nissan was 100% locally made so this is unsurprising when you mention you cannot see how your points are wrong.

You cannot make a solid retort without distorting what I have said.

Also you are conveniently forgetting the trade deals USA would have with a foreign national company like Nissan do not apply to the Australian legal framework for making anything in the country of Australia,as it is the case there are deals the USA has that Australia would not have.

I believe that the final auto production is ending this year in AU. Renault and Nissan have been a global auto alliance for going on twenty years. As I recall, acquisition of Chrysler was contemplated somewhere between the Mercedes/Chrysler and FIAT/Chrysler mergers. The CEO of Renault/Nissan has been a Frenchman (Carlos Gsohn) since formation of the alliance.

Nothing Earthshaking here, just trivia.

Sweet. I've seen Ladas only a couple times. Pretty cool looking. Who knew the Russians could?

We did a vacation in Jamaica in 1995 and Lada's were blazing around everywhere. Stayed in Montego Bay and took a small bus trip over to Ocho Rios one day and about half way over to OR we passed a small port area with a good sized cargo type ship docked. Everything within a mile or two was covered by a heavy red dust, including the ship. I asked the lady guide on the bus what the red dust was. She said it was bauxite (aluminum ore) and that Jamaica traded it to Russia for Lada cars. She added that the Lada drivers were crazy and when traffic court was held, the first thing the judge did when court was convened was to separate the Lada drivers from everyone else and hold separate court session for them. We were back to Jamaica in 2002 or 03 and a lot of the Lada's were repalced by Asian (Japan - Korea) manufactured cars.

Keep the AU car pics coming, VTR.

OK, time for a cartoon, kiddies.
