denman516
My engine is running great so that will be the last thing I mess with. But I am curious, is that a stock valve cover, aftermarket, and can you share where yo came up with it? Also can you share what you did with all the stupid vacum lines? It looks very clean and uncluttered compared to mine. Z24 2.4L Thanks for the remark about my truck, I am going to try to do it right. Once again sorry about putting my thread here i was not paying attention. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Z20 and Z22 came with aluminum valve cover. Quote Link to comment
nismo24096
Yeah its just an aluminum valve cover that I shaved all the top mounting post off of it and filled the remaining holes left in their place. then simply paint with some high temp paint or powdercoat it. 1 Quote Link to comment
nismo24096
Well, I got some work done to the truck today...got the cab all one color....self etching primer to be exact. so now all I have to do is do the body work on the bed and get it back on the truck. Quote Link to comment
mmitchell57
Hey, just found this thread and read through it all. Looks like good work man. I want to find some turbine wheels like you showed in the first page, but I want them all to be the same size / offset. Outside of that, I dig it. Keep up the good work. Quote Link to comment
nismo24096
Thanks man, its a slow process for sure for me...Im actually headed to Winston Salem NC tomorrow... Quote Link to comment
nismo24096
Got some work done today.... [/ white was laid down with a clear on it to help me see if I got all the dent out..it will be sanded down and reprimed soon. the reason the hood was off, had to paint it. Quote Link to comment
Omelet720
Damn dude. Following this from the beginning, your truck has come a long way. I'm thoroughly impressed. Hahaha, it makes me wonder what I could have gotten done on mine :D Quote Link to comment
nismo24096
Thanks man..its a slow process for me..but its getting there...gonna try and put the bed back on this weekend if all goes as planned.. Quote Link to comment
Omelet720
Are you still going with white? It looks sick with the green etching primer. Also, just noticed the radiator. All you did was polish it down to bare copper? So, do you know if all 720's have copper radiators? Quote Link to comment
nismo24096
On the final color not sure yet, but its gonna be the primer green for a little while with a white roof and some other white areas. wheels more than likely will end up white. The main reason Im leaving it primer is that i can slowly fix areas of concern and just prime the area again and it blends right in. the only downside is that primer is not sealed and over time will cause issues. if left in that state. as for the radiator yes it was just polished up with a wire wheel and then cleared with high temp engine clear I love how it looks. and Im not sure what years came with the copper ones. I hope to make some more progress on it next week on my days off. Quote Link to comment
nismo24096
Hey guys just a small update. Went to the junk yard today and pulled some 85 720 4x4 leafs off to help lower the truck even more. going to order some poly bushing and clean them up and paint them before installing them cause it was a bitch to get them off the truck in the yard and although mine has the bed off and should be easy..no since doing this crap more than needed. So plan as of right now is to order the 4x4 bushings for the leafs and order the rest of the bushings for my 2 wheel drive 82 model. anyone got a particular brand of bushings that they would recommend. as far as poly goes. and please lets not start a debate on rubber stock vs poly.....i know i know...lol just looking for brands people have used that are manufactured well and fit nice. planning to do the front also. thanks in advance guys. nismo24096
ok quick question, can I grind out the bolts that hold these stacks of weights on the end of the helper leafs off. or do they serve some purpose that i really need to keep them on my truck.. thanks Lee Quote Link to comment
wayno
Mine never had them, not sure what they are for. Personally I would remove them if they were on MY truck, as mine is lowered and they would be just another thing hanging down that I don't want hanging down. 1 Quote Link to comment
nismo24096
Mine is lowered also. and this was the same thinking and logic I was using...thanks for confirming. Lee Quote Link to comment
nismo24096
Much better..... Quote Link to comment
Omelet720
That's exactly what the springs I used as well. Just dropped off the overload off, as well as the stacks. Put my old stock flat overload onto the 4x4 pack. Slaps a little on bumps, but I'm going to coilovers in a few months, so I'm not worries about it. I also used Energy Suspension poly bushings on the springs. Rides great! Quote Link to comment
nismo24096
Sounds good to me , just ordered the energy suspension poly bushings for the springs today. cant wait to make the switch so i can put the bed back on...figure its much easier to do all this with the bed off. 1 Quote Link to comment
Omelet720
I also finished my bike rack, and it works great. Even with two bikes sideways behind the cab, I can still see everything behind and the bikes barely move, even blasting through the twistys. Quote Link to comment
Omelet720
Not trying to thread jack, I just think you should try 'em. ;) Quote Link to comment
nismo24096
All good man, i do plan on running a custom hard bed cover in the future though. Quote Link to comment
Omelet720
I'm going to do the same thing that leaves the racks exposed. How are you planning building your tonneau cover? Quote Link to comment
nismo24096
more than likely aluminum sheeting over a aluminum frame with gas struts to raise and hold it open. need to by a welder first though..lol don't worry I will post pics for sure... Quote Link to comment
Omelet720
Haha, this site is all about the oics. I like that idea. Are you going to try to mount inside the bed flush with the rails, or just on top? I hear you in the welding though.. Only thing stopping me from going absolutely crazy on my truck.
