I want to replace my old ones with some that are the same/similar in look, and can fit in the same clip holes.. Although I do want a more sturdy base material as I plan to install a stereo system.

Although I do want a more sturdy base material as I plan to install a stereo system. yea they can be any design you want. i use a hard panel board used for upholstery. i have mounted speakers to them. and i can leave the hole not drilled yet so the screws on yours match perfect or use push in clips so there are no screws showing
