mhub91
Truthfully, I prefer the 720 NAPSZ 5 spd with a L bell housing Quote Link to comment
THEa10wagonsss
sounds like ive got some options, i dont have visual inspection under the hood my inspection station just tests the lights and she gets a sticker lol. so early intake and exhaust is better than aftermarket?? Quote Link to comment
THEa10wagonsss
Fax me those window visors!! My roof rack dumps rain on me when I brake. i wish i could find some they only wanted 1500 for that car and it was a 4 speed What tranny or you running now? If auto, an 83,84 Maxima w/OD...If manual, a 5spd from a 77/78 Z. Manifold from an early 1600, better then most if not all headers. Edit: in your pic I see the smog system is intact. If you have emmision testing their you may need to be careful on running a different exhaust. im running a 5 speed out of a 710 i believe ive got pics of numbers on side, yard i got it from said it came out of an old yard truck 1 Quote Link to comment

Anyhow, not the correct gearing for leisurely car driving. At least you have the clutch and such already. There are many possibilities, depending on your mechanic skill level. Easiest one to bolt in would be trannies behind an "L" series motor. Of course driveline length will very. Quote Link to comment

The OP has responded to several of my postings without a difficulty. got er back on the road and rockin the whitewalls painted the engine bay and the engine old ford blue, dont think it looks too bad some before and afters new weber 32/36 to, brought this old pig back to life!! now, anyone know how to get a taller gear in this car not a fan of 2800 at 60 and any opinions on getting a header for the l20b?? He asked about a final drive change. Rear gear. Not transmission options. Differences in 5 speeds are going to do very little to his top speed/RPM difference. No salt. Just sayin'. You're the one thinking I have problems. Swapping transmissions will do very little to final output. Swapping the diff will have a way greater difference. Quote Link to comment
Dmb3sge
Hey guys I just joined the forum and I wanted to ask you some questions that I have about a swap that I´m doing. So well first the car, it´s an 83 Datsun Stanza Wagon and I´m putting a 3sge blacktop on it! ( yup i know I should´ve stuck with nissan but it was gonna be a little bit more complicated and also more epensive) I believe I have the H165 diff, so it shouldn´t have any problem handling 162 lb·ft of torque , right?? Does anyone know size of wheels and tires can will fit without having to put fender flares I´ve done some research but all I have found it´s about the 510 I was thinking In 15" 6.5" with 10-15mm offset and 205-50 ... well I´m all ears :D Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Fill out your profile. If you have a RWD Stanza, you clearly are not in the States. Had we know you live down under... yadidimean? Quote Link to comment

Lol Okay so now to answer your question. The widest setup I have ran is: Front: 14x7 +0 195/60 Rear: 14x7 +0 205/60 But I am lowered about 2 1/2 inches in the front and 2 inch blocks in the rear. Btw does anybody know if the chasis is strong enough to handle the stress caused by going flat out in an autocross session ??? I really want to avoid fitting a roll cage Quote Link to comment
Fat510
I dunno I have ZX struts up front so I can't run 13s anymore But when I ran the 205/60 in the back there was tire fender clearance of maybe 5 playing cards Quote Link to comment

With 280ZX struts up front you could run a 15x7 +0 with a 195/50-15, or a 15x7 +10 with a 205/50-15. Btw does anybody know if the chasis is strong enough to handle the stress caused by going flat out in an autocross session ??? We've never seen your chassis, so... ^_^ you should´ve seen it ! www.facebook.com/Dmb3sge that link is working( the car was parked for 12 years or so and it´s pretty good condition very little rust ) I don´t have too many pictures but there is also a short video of the new motor which sounds beatiful, I´m going to the shop tomorrow so I´ll take a few pics, the transmition tunnel shoud´ve been cut by now and I also should have the new motor mounts ... but you never know. I don´t know if this a silly question but regarding the H165´s specs that was talking about previouly ...I´m assuming that if the diff can handle the torque the same apply to the axels right ???? I´ve heard guys having problems with the ae86 axels after swaping a 3sge blacktop into it Quote Link to comment

Dmb3sge
It comes down to how you drive it. ^_^ But yes, it should be fine. You are getting me worried dude ! when it comes to cars I follow one philosophy : Drive it like you stole it lol that´s why I was looking at these bad boys to stop (.. and no pic attach... how do I upload photos ? ) According to the guys in the 1200 forum it should be more than fine: http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=Rear_Axle_Swaps SR20DET SR20DET makes 202 to 220 ft lbs of torque from the factory, so you'll need a Rear Axle that can handle it. The H165 can handle this. See #B120 axle swap. I mean come on ! I just have 160ft lbs of torque, if anyone has any experience with the H165 and drive like a maniac with a swapped motor please let me know btw I´ve seen some of you looking for LSD so here are a few links https://phantomgrip.com/product-tag/h165/ http://www.tractionconcepts.com/Datsun-1200-Datsun-UTE-Datsun-Bakkie-Lsd-Kit-p/tcxda7732.htm I didn´t see much progress this weekend, the shop was really busy so just wiring was getting done Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
He who drives it like he stole it fixes it like he broke it. Simmer down. Go trash a Civic if you can't shake the urge. 2 Quote Link to comment
