RatRandy
Wondering if its gonna be hell to walk into a parts store and ask for new brake shoes for my 521. I'm assuming they just don't have a bunch laying around. Advise from you ratsun owners would be appreciated! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
They can order them. Looks like the 521 shared with the 620 till and including '76. Quote Link to comment
RatRandy
Thanks. That will help. RR Quote Link to comment
alabama_lowlife
I had autozone order mine. But I got most of the rest of my brake stuff from rockauto. Rockauto is considerably less expensive. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
I have found different autoparts stores cater to different people. If you see a lot of spoilers, and fart cannon exhaust pipe tips, you probably are in the wrong parts store, but ask at the counter anyway, or call ahead. I buy a lot of Datsun stuff at a local auto parts store, here in Oregon City, Clackamas auto parts. They can usually get almost anything I order the next day. But they have been in business since 1934, so it is a little different than a chain auto parts store. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
The Big Napa stores seem to carry them. Never had a proplem with 521 pads I always get 2 sets as they are so cheap. Then back fill when you use a set. 521 parts is best to get spares of everthing. Esp Hydralic stuff, Clutch, brake master ,slave cylinders Quote Link to comment

RatRandy
Doesn't look like this baby has been greased in a while! Quote Link to comment
josh817
Just looked at my FSM and not to ask a stupid question but how to you grease the kingpins? I also remember seeing the grease nipple on the front end of the rear drive shaft. Just goes into the splined area where the two drive shafts slip together. I greased them but never understood why that slip joint needs grease? Quote Link to comment
alabama_lowlife
There should be a couple grease zerks on the spindle to grease it. Quote Link to comment
DanielC
"why that slip joint needs grease?" Because it slips. Moving parts, made of metal, tend to wear each other out without a lubricant. Quote Link to comment
josh817
Yah I'm dumb... lol I just went under there to look and it became obvious to me, both for the kingpin grease location and why the slip joint needs grease. Slip when the axle moves up and down... Thanks for the quick response. Sorry about the thread hijack. Quote Link to comment
