SHIFTER RATTLE

My shifter on 79 620 4speed rattles around and is annoying to no end. Is this what I need to fix that?

i think thats for an automatic, manuals need 3 bushings

Look through these for DIY shifter and actual dealer part numbers ,, possibly cheaper than the ebay ones but not sure...

NOPE!!! super easy

 

1. pull the rubber boots

2. remove C clip

3. remove pin

4. replace bushings

5. reassemble

6. Profit??

Oh nice. Wasn't sure if I'd have to remove a bunch of stuff or drop the trans to get to it. Sounds easy peasy.

I was just thinking about that. Never fails I drop clips/pins/little screws in impossible to get to areas.

This is for the F4W63 4 speed used in the 521,510, 610, 710, A10 and 620 up to '74. Used on some early Z cars too

 

Weather it's any good I have no idea.

 

 

 

 

When doing the '79 bushings get the bottom cup as well...

 

 

 

Side bushings......... #32855-H1010 about $4 at Nissan

Bottom cup.............. #32861-N4200 about the same price.

Also, put some gear oil in the shifter housing. It won't go anywhere, so don't overfill it, just a little bit. That will provide something for the slop in the linkage so as not to rattle at certain frequencies.

If your Dat does indeed use the same bushings linked to in fleabay for the Z cars, why not do the brass bushing upgrade? I did it to my 79 ZX and it made a world of difference!

I've never seen the bottom shifter cup go bad.

 

The side bushings do. They are only $2.50 at Nissan.
