The racetep header I got some 6 years ago was shit for quality. Massive amounts of wiggle from a way too large center hole, leaky flanges. Not worth it. If you're going to get one, have Troy Ermish build you a custom header. Or just run the stock exhaust manifold.

For A-series, South Yokohama makes high-quality large-tube headers

I don't normally consider myself a cheap bastard, but I can't see paying $1100-1200 for a header. I can build my own for less than half that. Last stainless header I built only cost about $500-550.

No, the L20B are 4 pipe into a single down outlet. That one is an L16/18 with 4 into 2 and then 2 into 1 down pipe.

The '75-'77 L20Bs had the intake and exhaust bolted together so you would need to address a hole in the bottom of the intake below the carb. A plate could be bolted over it.

The '78 and up L20Bs had divorced intake and exhaust manifolds and will take an earlier L16/18 exhaust no problem.

Can you grind the top center of the cast header so it will clear the aftermarket intake?

Nah. In order to grind enough off to make it fit, you'd break through into the exhaust ports. B)

I actually have some custom machined spacers to push the intake manifold out 1.5" to clear a stock exhaust manifold, but again I really want a header, so...
