bass
whats the biggest diameter tire someone has put on a stock early 70's 620, i have the torsion arms cranked all the way up and 31x10.5r15 m/t's (30.5" diameter) do not fit on the front, Quote Link to comment
Dawa
bought the truck with 14s on it (195/75 tires = 25.5in diameter) which isnt too tall but there was a few more inches of room left: Quote Link to comment
Aibast
I can only use 185 R14C type tyres. It's even marked in the registration certificate. So the men in blue can check that and give me a big fine if not to spec. So no other sizes are an option for me - thank the EU for that. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Well, stock means not doing anything with the torsion bars. But even cranked all the way up, you won't get 31s under the front of a 620 unless you stick a body lift under it. I run 205/75 R14s and they clear fine. I have had as much as 225/70 14s on a stock-height '74. My '76 Longbed has 265/70 R16s under it, but it also has a dana-30 front axle and some pretty hefty leaf springs up front. bass
i meant stock datsun suspension, im trying to use any size mud terrain that will fit, 28" diameter is as as small as any company makes in mud tires anyone fit a 28" tall tire on a 620 without bodylift? bass
im trying to use 15x7" rims as well Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
As Doug said. I had 31s under but had a 4" body lift and still had to hammer the front of the cab by the wheel well in. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
I have 29" (LT235/75R15, 28.9") ones on my other 4X4, and the fenders had to be cut at the bottom, and THAT is with a solid front axle conversion that provides about 3" of lift. 28" will be very close. It'll fit the wheelwell with the torsions cranked but will probably hit the lower fender lips at turns. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
This is an idea of how much lift was needed to clear 29" tires. Due to articulation the fenders had to be clearanced at the lower corners of the wheelwell: Since you're not doing 4WD live axle, articulation isn't an issue. But you still have to take full suspension compression into account. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Pretty sure this one had 31"s at the end... http://community.rat..._+ryan +seattle He cranked the torsion bars til he hit the upper bumpstops and pulled the fenders out. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
He also cut the bottoms off both fenders and hammered the holy hellout of the firewall/floorboard portion of the wheelwell. Notice in that pic, the lower fender fronts are already gone.. He got more radical later. Quote Link to comment
