Zeusimo
Truck Starts Fine... Just Replaced Alternator.. Charge Light Stays On... Have To Keep My Foot On The Gas For It To Run I Have No Clue What's Wrong, It Was Fine Yesterday I Don't Have A DMM :( Quote Link to comment
KC Phirus
Uhh... adjust the idle? Check the choke? Open a book? Need a book? Quote Link to comment
Zeusimo
I Started Messing Around And Discovered That The Battery Isn't Charging So.. Maybe I Have A Short Somewhere From The Alt. To The Battery :( I Wish I Still Had My DMM :crying: Quote Link to comment
Npdavies.
We had a similar problem since we replaced our alternator with a larger one, not made for the car. Since it was for a different model, the leads had to be modified a little, since the alternator wasn't charging the battery. So just check all of the wires the run from the alternator, with a meter. Edit: just checked my alt and remembered our problem; the jumper we put in to override the volt reg. was wrong. Sorry I'm of no help. Quote Link to comment
DatDoug
Where did you get your new altnator? Could be BOB  Bad Outof Box Its happened to me B4 with Schucks. Quote Link to comment
Zeusimo
Autozone.. And Tested A Good 15V I Would Check ALL The Wires But I Don't Have A Meter... I Might Have To Buy One Currently Charging Battery Cuz It Was 1/2 Full I Also Found That I Blew A 10A Fuse... I Don't Know What It's For But I'll Pick One Up On My Way To School Maybe All Of This Rain Messed Something Up... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Truck Starts Fine... Just Replaced Alternator.. Charge Light Stays On... Have To Keep My Foot On The Gas For It To Run I Have No Clue What's Wrong, It Was Fine Yesterday I Don't Have A DMM :( It's likely the 'C' terminal fuse to your idle cut solenoid and choke heater (it goes to other places too but if the idle cut isn't working it ..... won't idle) Quote Link to comment
Zeusimo
Ok.. I Just Got The Fuses But That Still Doesn't Explain The Battery Not Charging  Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Voltage regulator? Quote Link to comment
Zeusimo
Just Got Home From School Replaced The Fuse... It Was For The Seatbelt Buzzer Truck Still Acts The Same.. Start-Up, Idles For 2 Seconds, Dies.. Charge Light Still On :( Quote Link to comment
Zeusimo
The Battery Charges Now  (I Have No Clue What I Did) But The Motor Still Dies.... I'm So Confused  Quote Link to comment
KC Phirus
(could be the idle) Quote Link to comment
Zeusimo
Fixed :) That Little Box Near The Horn That Holds The Choke And Idle Connections Simply Loosened Itself, Therefore No Ground... Edit: Delete Post, Thread, Forum?... I'm So Stupid Sometimes Like Getting Up To Grab A Spoon But You Wonder Off To The Fridge And Look Around Until Your Mind Notices... WTF Am I Doing? You Were Gonna Get A Spoon <_< Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
So does this mean the old alternator is still good?????????? Quote Link to comment
Zeusimo
Nope They Said It Was Bad Free New Alt :D Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
This won't be deleted as this is good info for someone re-searching a similar problem. BTW there is no fuse for the seat belt buzzer. It's fed from the light switch. It must be for something else. Quote Link to comment
Zeusimo
Really? Right When I Plugged The Fuse In The Buzzer Went Off Maybe A Fuse To The Light Switch Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Which fuse? What does the fuse box call it? Quote Link to comment
Zeusimo
Top Left I Don't Have A Fuse Box Cover :( Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
I wonder why a fuse would cause the engine to not idle? The anti-diesel valve runs off the IGN, so if that was it, it wouldn't run either would it? Quote Link to comment
Zeusimo
It Wasn't The Fuse There's A Little Box (Choke And Idle) Next To The Horns That Ungrounded Itself Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Oh, the idle was un-grounded. That would cause the idle to stop working. Quote Link to comment
