Head gasket modification

Hey folks, using a Z22 H/G on a big bore L18. Timing cover gasket area has already been modded to not leak. But, as some know, the Z22 and L engines dont have the same coolant ports and oil drain holes.

 

Should every single coolant hole be drilled to match the L head and block?

Don't they sell a oversized L block head gasket for just this reason, I read on here somewhere that one was available.

Im gonna end up needing an over bore L18 HG too, anyone know who carrys them?

My L20b has .040 over size L-18 pistons and i used a felpro headgasket.How much oversize are you going ? the felpro sealing rings were still outside of the cylinder.

I don't know if it would be to big for the L-18 but I am using a NISMO HG #11044-A7651 for my LZ22 build?

Z22E pistons in an L18 block, its bored .080 over. Its a Nissan OEM gasket.

 

The overbore L gasket is like a $90 piece...

Not all holes are used even in the L gasket I think, so lay an L gasket over a Z and copy it. Don't just make holes for every hole in the block and head.

L18 block bored to 87mm, L16 rods, Z22S pistons??? nice!
