Stoffregen Motorsports

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Matt Stoffregen and I have been building Datsuns for two decades now. I have raced SCCA and was employed by Rebello Racing for almost 10 years where I built engines and everything else they did at the time. I have a pretty good knowledge of most Datsuns and most Datsun engines as well as custom engine combinations, carburetion, drivetrain, chassis, etc. If anybody needs any help, I would be happy to oblige. And for actual physical help, I am in NORCAL so look me up if you like.

Welcome to Ratsun

Welcome to ratsun now tell us your secrets from Rebello Racing LOL

lolz no secret but good engine building there.

Iv seen Rebello motors up close and Im familiar with the head work done.

ie; theres 400 N/A L6 motors in Japan, the engineering is mostly lost on us because no one puts that much money into L motors here.

just as an example......

you need a finely tuned and engineered exhaust to get the most out of your equally tuned and engineered L?

feel like dropping 3k (before shipping) on a Kameari header?

none of its magic :D just lots of engineering

A couple questions:

2. Why is there a Fram oil filter on it :P

^^^ this

Secrets...what secrets?

Have them build you a motor, then find out for yourself!

welcome to Ratsun Matt... Cant remember if I have ever met you at Troys but I do know your old ITC car here is a link to the progress and tranformation

I don't know if I did or not, I don't know your name!

I wish I never sold all my 510 stuff, but you've got to shed your old skin if you want to grow.

A couple questions:

1. What is the engine paint you used on that first engine pictured

2. Why is there a Fram oil filter on it :P

But seriously, welcome :)

The paint is from Moss Motors. It is a classic BMC engine color. But Datsun's used similar colors in the 60's.

You guys and Fram filters. The best oil filter is one that is changed often.

Thanks!

Thanks! And you're right, exhaust is key. I dig a good exhaust, and that header is gorgeous.

For really good exhaust parts (collectors, tubing, flanges, header building) look to SPD in Rancho Cordova.

For good cheap supply, look at Columbia River Mandrel Bending.

And for custom flanges, call Victory header Flanges.

I know right

Im sure your aware of some of the crazy L series motors that have been built in Japan over the years.

not only does everything perform its all sexy looking and sounding

theres some L engine voodoo engineering over there, it all boils down to the fine details though ;)

Welcome to Ratsun, Its always nice to have some one with your knowledge base.

If you guys have any questions, let me know. I don't know everything, but at least I have an opinion on everything!!!

bills datsun has good headers! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have heard about his headers. Tough to be in business these days and if you're not going to do it right, you shouldn't do it at all.
