Funny how different parts of the world got different names for the same car. Try telling him it's a Datsun Bluebird or maybe a Datsun 200B :)

The 510 morphed into the 610 which was known outside N Am as the Bluebird U in Japan and the 160B or 180B depending on engine size in Europe/Australia/N Zealand. This is why the 610 had the IRS out back. In Japan there was an inline 6 option with a stretched front end that was never exported called the U-2000. (the 710 was a cheaper spin-off of the 610 but that is another story)

The 810 Bluebird came out in '76 in Japan with the 140B, 160B and 200B in export markets. It was available in the US n mid year '77 and known as the Datsun 810 and had an L24E motor. Remember the U-2000 was already stretched for an inline 6 so it was only natural to continue this including the IRS.

The 910 came out mid year '79 but I don't think it was exported by this name to the US but continued as the Datsun 810.

In '81 the 810 was offered as an 810 Deluxe or 810 Maxima and only Maxima in '82.

Closest thing on the website would be these two models:

810 4 door and wagon: http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/DATSUN%201978-81%20200B%204DR%20SEDAN-WAGON.htm

810 2 door Coupe (not 2 door sedan...): http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/DATSUN%201977-79%20200B%20COUPE.htm

What's a '75 710 wagon??? ........ a 160J ....... or Violet????

Depends on where in the world you are...

710 = North American Market

160J = Europe, Africa and Australia

Violet = Japan

Same goes for the 610:

610 = North American Market

160B/180B = Europe, Africa and Australia

Bluebird = Japan

We didn't get the 710 in Australia. We did get the later model PA10's, they are called a Datsun Stanza, but 160J's in other countries.
