Alternator went tits up and killed the battery.Jump it and then put a meter on the battery-it should read in the 13.8 to 14.4 range with the truck running-If not-reg or alt. is cooked.

Put the battery on a 2 amp trickle charge and you should be able to save it.

ya after another ruined battery I believe its the regulator

getting part tomorrow and praying

Although totally discharging the battery should be avoided, this won't ruin it. If your battery is new, charge it slowly like Z train said. NEVER store a battery in a discharged state.

if the year is '77 620 like your profile says then definitely externally regulated. Don't let them sell you anything with internal regulator, those were for '78's

unless you want to do away with the tempermental external regulator.

Get yourself an internally regulated alt. they're way easier, and there's less wiring, not to mention, you can buy a new one from almost any parts store. Mine was meant for external regulation, but the kid I bought my truck from got rid of all the wiring for the regulator, so it LITERALLY cooked my battery.
