datzenmike
L20B by the looks of it. Has EFI but I don't see a turbo. Not sayin' it isnt. Quote Link to comment
ariascarlos1990
L20Bt Quote Link to comment
VintageRice
It is turboed, heres another pic.. Is EFI on a L20b very common??? I thought it was L series but the guy claims it a 2.4 240sx motor. Obviously not.... Turbo Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
There's no such animal in North Am. No turbo and no EFI. Look behind the dip stick handle on the top edge of the block just below the head, the engine size should be there. Looks factory so JDM maybe? Quote Link to comment
VintageRice
He DID say it was an imported motor. Bought it from japan and a buddys shop put it in. I'm going to look at this car soon. Not running but was when parked. Needs radiator and other bits. Need to check compression and for spark when I'm there. What else should I look out for besides the obvious stuff like water in the oil. Thanks a million guys!!! Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
never mind i know what car this is Quote Link to comment

Braden
Whats up with the valve cover hold down strap? lol wondering the same thing myself, too much boost might blow the valve cover off i guess! Quote Link to comment
Skib
Looks factory so JDM maybe? deff not a factory set up, the intake may be a JDM L4 EFI intake or a cut down Z car one. the throttle body and AFM look like they came off a KA tho Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
i wonder if that is steves old engine Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I dunnow skib, check the exhaust manifold to turbo.. looks cast iron. L18 EFI with LD20 turbo and exhaust manifold. Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
my other question is what are or where they running for engine management ? because one hard pull and pop piston fail! the more i look at it the more i think this is steves old engine Quote Link to comment
Skib
I dunnow skib, check the exhaust manifold to turbo.. looks cast iron. as far as I know there are no factory L4 turbo exhaust manis, it was never a factory option. I cant see any of the mani clearly in the pics, the cast looking part in the last pic is the turbo exhaust housing lets get some exhaust mani and ECU pics! Quote Link to comment
Guest kamakazi620
Whats up with the valve cover hold down strap? lol If you look closely the battery is missing, and they put the hold down on the valve cover.(I know most of us ratsun guys have NEVER seen or used a battery hold down, unless its in bungie cord style.) ggzilla
Looks like a 610 SSS engine -- L18E with a bunch of mismatched parts. You can look on the engine for the number itself. Might be an L20B with the SSS manifold fitted. Also looks like a Dodge engine, er i mean Dodgey. That battery hold down would make me think twice about buying it, and the seller passing it off as a 240SX engine would make me not trust the buyer. Quote Link to comment
VintageRice
I'm going to look at this car tomorrow night. I'll be bringing my camera FOR SURE. Be ready for a pic heavy post when I return. Either way, with no one knowing for sure what this is, should I be skeptical about buying it???? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Always be sceptical about buying any used or rebuilt engine. Check it for smoke, and carefully listen for tapping or knocking sounds. A well-tuned Datsun L-series engine makes zero tapping sounds. Quote Link to comment

sssr20det510
Looks like a z manifold cut down u can see a seam that looks like its been welded, the car itself don't look like its in too bad of shape id check it for rust though. The rear flair looks like its cracked where its molded to the body Quote Link to comment
