Help Im a SLAVE

Hi everybody. I was driving my dime in the hills and hit some bump in the road, then when I pushed in the clutch, it had no pressure at all. I stopped and looked underneath at the Slave master cylinder. The rubber boot is bulging with clutch fluid, and the clutch master resevoir was dry. Then I squeezed the bulging slave cylinder boot and the clutch fluid came out. I then proceeded to bleed the clutch, and I watched as the slave master cylinder boot again began to bloat with fluid.

I can start the car in gear, or put it in gear and the car won't move an inch.

 

What's wrong here? At first I thought it was my clutch fork falling off the transmission. But now I'm leaning towards a problem with the slave??? HELP!

 

It's a 4-door 510 w/ L20b & 280 5 speed. The slave and master are both only weeks old. Thanks!

Where did you get the slave from, sounds like another shucks POS.

Blew a seal in the clutch slave, remove and replace! ;)

if the slave blew the clutch fork should be in the fwd position. Thus if he has it in gear then starts it ,the car should move. Unless the fork is jammed back where its pushing on the clutch teeth(pushing the clutch IN)

 

a slave should not blow out that new, I never seen one do that, made in Japan or Taiwan.

Just remembered the master was new, but I just rebuilt the slave. could i get some more veteran opinions?

Yeah, you did something wrong like putting the rubber seal in backwards or something.... it happens.

Okay. So I did as you all said. Bought a new 280 slave and installed. Then after 10 minutes of driving it with the new slave, it blew out again, the rubber boot filled with fluid. Looks like I didn't rebuild the first one incorrectly Mike, So what the hell could be wrong???

it may not be allowing the fluid to return...

Hmm... If that were true, then I'm pretty sure it would have blown out a lot faster, like after only a few shifts instead of after 10 minutes of moderate/hard driving.

if it allows some through, it will take a few times before it occurs.

 

when you bleed it next time, try a few more pumps after and see if it happens again.

Check the clutch peddle. Push on it with your hand. There should be about 1/16" to 1/8" of play or travel before there is resistance. If this isn't set properly the piston may not be returning to it's rest position inside the master. If it doesn't return fully pressure can be trapped in the line.

^^^By pressure do you mean air or fluid? And the way I recall, there was NO play before hitting resistance on the clutch. So the way I solve that would be by adjusting the bolt behind the clutch pedal correct?

Is this a new set up? Or you have been driving this set no probs for a while? I had this problem when I had the wrong throw out sleeve. I solved this by making a larger pin...
