Just got this truck and its my first Datsun. I love it! The interior is amazing, AC blows freezing, and it runs like a champ! I cleaned it up and removed the back bumper. Getting ready to go through the whole thing with my father in law (an awesome body/paint man) and knockout the few little rust spots and then repaint. I got some new OEM decals on the way! Not sure if I am gonna go with original silver, or white... Looking for a set of 17 or 18" Titan or Armada rims, but the dealerships around me don't resell them. Stoked to get started, I'm sure I'll be asking Q's along the way... Anyways here she is!

Already has the ST mags on it. Is it an ST model? Sunroof, electric windows, gauges?

 

The Z24 motor is notorious for blowing head gaskets every 100k. NEVER allow it to overheat. This is a recipe for a blown gasket/warped head so check the hoses, belts and always use a quality anti-freeze/coolant that is changed every 2 years. Nissan recommends re-torquing the bolts one at a time at every tune up. The procedure is to loosen and then tighten to 60 ft lbs. Do this one at a time and it won't upset the original tightening sequence. Only do this when the motor is cold!

 

With engine warm check/set the valve lash.

 

As you have no idea if the previous owner maintained the truck....

For the 5 speed transmission: drain and refill the transmission with GL-4 (Nissan recommends GL-4 not GL-5) 80 W 90 gear oil. It should be changed every 30K miles... so who does that? It's likely over due.

For the differential: drain and re-fill with GL-5 90 W gear oil. Like the tranny it should have been changed every 30K miles.
