jefe de jefes
Nice rig. Use the front half of the 620 driveline w/bearing. Can't remember if it's from a standard or king cab but it should be around 4" shorter than the 521. Move the hole on the shifter plate and modify your stock tranny mount. Quote Link to comment
Creepy Cruiser
That's really nice dude. Quote Link to comment
patd
Great find, That truck looks like it was taken good care of all of its life. I love the color. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The '80 280zx tranny will work just fine in your little 521. The 5th over drive gear is quite tall and was intended for a six cylinder to use. It's only for level highway cruise speeds to reduce engine RPMs. With only an L16 it will be sluggish climbing slight grades and driving into a head wind. For passing, climbing hills or carrying a load use 4th only. Quote Link to comment
fisch
Your five two one is a stunner man! Surprised I haven't seen it before! Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Isnt the Z tranny longer. This is no 1 day swap. 521 have a funky bot on the end of the trawns ect... If your a entry level mech just past this up Persoanlly just get a 200sx sp speed and you still need to modthe x member hanger thing. Just put the carb on and call it good. I hate to see another 521 be on the side of the house. Not done rotting away Also do the kingpins first as the kingpin set its self is cheap but getting the machine work and fitting them evn cost me 250$ for a shop to do it. But I stalled the hubs and stuff back on. Mklotz has this write up on olddatsuns.com in the tech section Quote Link to comment

Hyphy
yes, the motor should be next to the fuse box. Honestly kinda hard to miss it. Basically located on the firewall in the engine bay behind the stock fuse box. a test light would come in real handy if it is there and not working. Quote Link to comment
Roadracer Al
I found on my 620 that the metal tabs that hold the fuses in the fuse box had corroded badly enough that the wipers and heater motor wouldn't run. A quick scrub with a wire brush helped a lot. Quote Link to comment
