FoxyRoadster
Well to make a short story even shorter my new ignition computer crapped out on me on my bug and stuck me by the side of the road, I'm awaiting new points and condenser to be dropped off so I can get my bug running again. Managed to get the car into a parking lot, but having to wait about 30 minutes or so for the parts... Thank goodness for 3g wireless internet. Quote Link to comment

I'm taking things lightly on this, sure it sucks but at least I have internet, though I did about set the car on fire by mistake and gave my hand a nasty burn on 3 of my 5 fingers. FoxyRoadster
As for the fire, I'm still not sure what happened.. I had my spark just up and vanish, I pulled over and tried to start it.. still no spark.. I gave up, swapped back to points I had spare and when I tried to start it I saw smoke and was like "Oh fuck!". I burned my fingers when I yanked the wire off the fuel line before it managed to melt the line.. Still unsure on what it was but I just know it not only burnt my points but the computer with the ignition system I had.. I guess I should have practiced more common sense and not have grabbed smoking and burning wires.. but it was a choice between my beetle going up in smoke fast (once it would have melted the fuel line I'd have had some serious trouble) or risk burning myself. I'm still trying to figure out how the wiring even got close to the fuel line in the first place... Quote Link to comment
